it was a shock to me when the recruiter told me I should remove all dates off my resume, high school, college, military etc.

apparently being in your 40's does not make you the most desirable. . . something about requiring a certain level of income to pay your bills. . .
I did that a while ago. I'm 62 but look a lot younger.

And, FWIW, engineers CAN'T QC ourselves, because we don't think our shit stinks! We need laymen to tell us it does. ;)
You can't let the engineers talk to the customers. I have people skills!

Not to offend but QC/QA workers are hired professional complainers but necessary component in a manufacturing environment. However marketing and them are usually the first to go in a downturn.. So in both fields never get comfortable and keep your options open!!

Yeah I’m supposed to get my first SSA payment tomorrow.. California unemployment specifically says to NOT report those earnings..
So you'll be drawing Social Security AND unemployment?

This thread makes me realize how truly wonderful it is to be retired and of course owning a Ford ranger. looking for a job can be more stressful than having one.
Exactly was my thoughts.

In here you can forget about getting “any job” if you have gained some skills or have worked on leading position.
I never hired over qualified people myself as they left asap.

In the last 13 years I've had 3 jobs that I was greatly over qualified for.

One I stayed at for 7 years until the company was bought out by an even larger multinational corporation which eviscerated our compensation.

One I left within 8 months despite being on a "fast tract" because the management was absolute shit.

The other I've been at for over 5 years, taken 2 promotions, and don't see myself leaving anytime soon.

In my current position I train new hires. We get a lot of people who are supposedly "over qualified." Some last, some don't. The numbers don't seem to differ at all from those who are perfectly qualified. Hell a lot of the time the so-called "over-qualified" folks can barely do our simple work.

In QA testing web and mobile. That’s a great space to be in. I worked for QVC for 20 years in IT before retiring. I’d hit up their web sites for opportunities.
Look on both HSN and QVC.

don’t laugh, They do over 9 billion a year and have marketing and product teams that make them nearly recession proof.

you may need to relocate, but since Covid, I don’t know what their wfh policy is. Check them out.

Hi all, unfortunately I was affected by the tech layoffs earlier this year. I've had a hard time finding a new job. I am active in interviews, and have good opportunities, but still no offer yet. I'd really hate to lose my truck, and def don't want to return it and pay fees for cosmetic damage + miles.

I was wondering if anyone else has been in this situation before. I'm really really hoping I land a job before the lease runs out, so I can finance to buy it out. My credit score is good, but I won't have any cash to put down, or proof of the same solid annual income that I had last year.

Considering the circumstance, what would you recommend here? Is it possible I can still finance the truck before I land a job? Or is it time I just pick up any hourly job I can get and use that to prove I currently have reliable income? Lease ends July 1, 2023 and I'm in Los Angeles.
some leases have job loss "coverage" if you pay for it. I dont remember what it is called but for an extra fee you have payment protection added. Any chance you have that option or could add / buy it before they find out the job is no more??

Classy. Real classy.

The mere fact that anybody thinks this is okay is astounding.
LoL

The fact that you think everyone should think like you is astounding.
