Anyone have a tactic or trick to make the trucks computer kick on the brakes for wheels that dont have traction faster / easier when off road in order to send power to the wheels that do have traction?? the system works great, as soon as it kicks on its ALMOST like a locked differential. But, when I needed the extra help in a "sporty" twisted small loose rocky climb it seemed like the truck wanted more throttle and spin than I wanted to give before it transferred power. it was a situation where i really did not want to give much skinny pedal as sliding backwards would have been bad. so i took 3 tense attempts with the last needing a goose on the gas, then magic traction. in older setups one can ride the brake a little to send some power across the axle but in the 5g ranger if you push both pedals at once the computer nanny flips out and reduces power and lights up stuff on the dash.
any combo of settings or gears or modes make the system more sensitive ?

Are you staying in normal drive mode when doing this? That might be the issue as normal drive is more tailored to on-road efficiency and tends to pull you out of the power band to keep rpms low.

Try out the different terrain modes next time you go out. They change up the transmission logic, throttle response, lock/unlock the diff, etc. to keep you moving forward. You can do all of this on your own of course, but it's nice when the truck just handles it. Also in general a locked diff and low range make slow speed climbing much easier. Just take a moment to pop into 4L when you need to and you'll likely make the climb without any wheel spin.

Check out the owners manual and read up on the 4wd and locking differential operating principles. You can operate both systems on the fly up to certain speeds and the truck simply won't execute the operation if you exceed the design boundaries.

Use sport mode, try other 4x4 modes if you can. Also, left foot brake. Keep the throttle down a bit so RPMs are in the power band and use the brake to modulate your speed.

so any time i have any touch of both pedals i get error message and the computer pulls power. cant touch the brake and gas at the same time i thought it was how all the five g trucks are.
that why i was hoping someone had a work around or trick to get the brakes to transfer power easier without making the wheels spin more than needed.

Ohh, I forgot about that. Since tuning my truck I can power brake at will now. With the locker I can paint stripes for quite a distance if wanted.

Try using the parking/E brake. It likely won't interfere with the electronics.

Haha...trail brake on a trail...get it? No matter...a little brake as needed is always useful...

im in different modes for different challenges. the scenario i hope to improve is when crawling in 4 lo, rear diff locked, in first gear, sport mode. trail control speed set as low as possible.. truck does amazing most times. but when the obstacle - in my case rocks with uneven surface and surrounded by loose smaller rocks, on about 18 percent incline. The truck makes it up fine. But it typically takes about 3 attempts to get the trucks computer to send the abs the signal to have free wheel slowed so the power goes to the tire with traction (on the ground).
So far I cannot find any combo of settings to make the abs control quicker to act.
