I saw one golf ball sized bit bounce in my back yard. Rushed to the Ranger that had no tree cover.

What to do.. looks down at old Army shit in a bucket I need to do something with......

Fuck it. Protect the glass and the aluminum hood!

Three or 4 generations of cammo and the stupid mat.

And.. as far as I can tell. No damage.

But if that Kia is the wifeys , ehhh , you may have f'd up a bit...
It was under a tree that you can't see in the pic. It was being hit but the ice was pinkoing down to it. So it seems ok as well.

Hi Folks,

We were summering in Flagstaff and got reports of golf ball size hail in Green Valley. So Nautilus was safe in the garage and RV and Ranger up in Flagstaff. Then we get the damage reports. Neighbor to the North $11,000 in damage to the roof and Cheating on his wife slimeball to the South, $14,000, so we were super worried about our house as we have the 2nd largest "under roof" in the area with our RV Garage accounting for the large increase. Absolutely no damage to our house except for a poor plastic hose reel on the side of the house and one small screen for an RV garage window up at the 14' level. Whew! Since the RV windows are so high, having screens on the four windows is ridiculous as they will not ever be in service as opening the slider would entail using an extension ladder. Why so high? Well....buglers can't see in to see if the RV is in the garage or not. Builder of our house suggest this "mod"....

Best,
Phil

I’m glad your Ranger survived. What a helpless feeling.

A weird summer hail storm hit a small part of Toronto in 2009. I didn’t have a garage then and watched as mothball-sized hail bounced off my gen 4 Ranger, Lexus RX350, and my Smart fortwo. The sight was tough to take but the sound of the hail hitting the vehicles was the most alarming. I thought there was NO WAY any of them would survive.

When it was over, I went out to check on things - the Smart was fine (plastic car), the Ranger was fine except for a dented window sill trim piece on one side and a shattered passenger side mirror. Really? ? I bought an $80 aftermarket power remote mirror for the Ranger (Ford wanted $400 for OEM) and fixed the trim piece on my own.

The Lexus was a different story - it looked like someone had taken a ball-peen hammer to it. There was a $9,700 insurance claim for the Lexus. ?

I used to always say how that Ranger was the hardest working truck in Toronto and that it was bulletproof. It certainly lived up to being “Built Ford Tough” that day. I’m not sure my 5g, with its lighter panels would have been as fortunate. ?‍♂

I got caught in a storm last year, and being in traffic could do nothing to get away from the hail. It got REALLY loud bouncing off the roof and hood. But luckily there was no damage.

Gotta do what you gotta do. If the air mattress doesn’t work, tiling the hood certainly will - looks like you’ve covered all the bases Reagon.

I've got a tiny dimple on the hood from a previous hailstorm. The hail started as I was driving home from work. I pulled into a gas station to get under cover, but the wind was blowing so hard that I was still getting pelted during gusts. No damage to the paint, and the dimple is only visible at certain angles so nobody ever notices it (except me of course), so I never even looked into having it fixed.

Nice. I even had one in the garage... but the hail was already falling and I didn't have time to air it up. That and pull the straps out if my swing case..

Might go that route if I have time in the future.
