Toppertent now suppports Rangers. Its a small tent extension for hard shells and softoppers. I just received one for my softoppper and its pretty cool. I haven't added the velcro to seal up the tailgate sides yet but the fit and ease of use is pretty great. Im 5'9" and I can now sleep in my truck bed comfortably without having to be a contortionist. I have a fullsize tent for the family but this seems like a great option for when I get out on solo trips hiking or fishing, i haven't spent the night in it yet but some Tacoma users have reported positive experiences. Anyhow I thought Id share.

They didn't show up on my end at 1st. Unless you added them in the edit while I was looking for the meme.
Tim, you gotta be quicker with those memes! :D

Nice option for the 5’ bed. A bit pricey just to keep your feet dry. Then again, what isn’t?

Warm, dry feet are important! :D

Forgot, you get to stretch out too. ?

Decent option, but - for me - many practical downsides. My car camping has gotten more sophisticated but even with the basics - cooler, dry food bin, stove, eating kit, water, etc - you probably have to move stuff out of the truck bed in order to sleep in it. I did this maneuver as a young man on a 3 week solo road trip, piling crap into the cab of my old Mazda B2200 or worse, outside, on the roof or under the truck. That got old everyday.

I opt for a quick setup ground tent (Gazelle T4). Very spacious and comfortable, fast setup and teardown AND I can leave my spot for the day and come back to it without re-competing for a camp spot.

Now, with dedicated planning, I could see an elevated sleep platform, maybe half the width of the truck, the other side dedicated to coolers and larger bins, water jugs. Smaller stuff stored under the sleeping platform. That could work. I'm also 6'4" and might just fit my 5' bed with the tailgate down.. maybe. How long is that space, 5' bed with the tailgate down? I've not stretched out in mine.

Anyway, cool to see the options. Really cool to see posts about camping, the primary reason I got my FX4, btw.
