Added the BuiltRight Industries Replacement Steering Wheel Stripe Kit - Red | Ford Raptor (2009-14), Part #108001.

They have a youtube video explaining how to do the threading.

I put this on in about 10 minutes or so.

Function? It does the job of a "On-Centre" marker, as Ford calls it on the Raptor. Not for everyone, but I like it.

Fool and their money. I thought about tape, but didn't want the residue issues. I could have gotten some material at the local fabrics shop, but this was eaiser.

So here is my one year review and random thoughts.

The 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat, 501A, Tremor, is the truck I’ve always wanted (outside of a 1976 F-250 Highboy). From factory, it has the larger tires, and better suspension I would have added eventually. Being as it’s factory I don’t have to concern myself with finding the right shocks, leafs, coil-overs, or tires. And there is the added comfort when dealing with issues at the dealer; warranty or otherwise.

Comfort:
The seats of the Lariat Tremor are great. There is a great deal of adjustability to get your seat exactly where you need it. The heated seats are great in the Winter, and for drivers with back issues, they work great in the Summer too. Cons for the seats, would be the lack of memory for multiple drivers. I’ve never had this feature before, so I really don’t miss it, but would have been a nice add on for the 5G Lariat trimmed NA Rangers.

The Ranger is spacious. On a trip out of the Province, we took another couple, and there was plenty of room in the back seats, and everyone was comfy. It was summer and the auto climate control did it’s job of keeping the temperature right where it needed to be.

Console:
The dash and console of the Ranger does get some hate, and shade from many reviewers, and owners. I like it. Coming from a 2011 Toyota Tacoma, TRD Off Road, I find all the new tech and styling great. I have noticed that some reviewers when comparing the 2019 + Ranger to other manufacturers truck offerings, they seems to like it until they found out that there were few changes from the ROW Ranger. It was afterward referred to as old and outdated.

I do enjoy the B&O sound system, and thinks it provides great sound, without the need to upgrade for 80%+ of users. Like coffee, wine and more things in life than can be imagined, there are always the audio-snobs, who could never be happy with a factory system.

I do like the Ford SYNC 3. For the most part it does what it is required to do. I can play the music files from my plugged in USB, and has a Nav system I do like, and have grown used to using, and grown my ability to get the most out of. The secondary gauge cluster screen allows hands free calling and nav progress updates, as well as USB and radio usage. I appreciate its function and ease of use. The voice selection however is both a plus and con. I do like it, but there are times when what should be a simple request doesn’t appear to be a proper selection.

Tech Systems:
The adaptive cruse control and lane keeping assist works well, and I do like it for long highway drives. The auto high-beams also work as intended. The odd time they do switch off when catching reflections off of highway signs.

Payload:
Other than a the Summer trip mentioned, I haven’t had any opportunities to test the Rangers capabilities. It did handle camping gear for four people well, with no issues. The fuel milage during this trip was great, averaging 9.6 L/100KM.

Suspension and 4X4 Systems:
The Trail Control and Terrain Management systems work well, for the limited use I have put in. These along with the 4WD and rear locker, are easy to use. Unlike my last truck, everything is easy to see access and does not require a multitude of buttons, some of which were impossible to see from the driver seat.

There are lots of great videos online, regarding the Ranger’s advanced 4WD systems so you can get more detail about the specific system you want to know more about.

Final Thoughts:
All in all the Ranger is a great truck. I’m happy with the purchase, and would and do recommend it to others. If I had to pick a con for the Ranger, it’s that it’s too fun to drive! So regardless of the great fuel mileage, I still find myself filling the tank often.

Frank, thank you your review.
I have a 22 in the same configuration.
What you stated are completely in line with my thoughts.
Really a great truck form the factory.
Just add personal accessories as needed.

Nice detailed review. Glad you are enjoying the truck, Frank. I agree the B&O sound system is great for everyone but the wild outliers. Noticeable difference when I go to any other vehicle and hear music. The girlfriend always notices different sounds in the Ranger that are drained out/missing in the same songs she listens to in her vehicle. Very happy not to deal with electrical wiring and fitting a sound system in.

Excellent write up Frank! I have the same sentiments of mine, the only exception is a disappointment in mileage I average 17 have broken 18 twice (I was hoping for better). But otherwise I fillerup and smile drivin! :)

Thanks guys. There was so much more I could have written, but where to stop? It's been only one year, but I did put 20,000KM on it. It's a great truck. And did what I needed, when needed. The pro/con things some people bring up on the forum, or during "professional" reviews, is often no more than unrealistic expectations or lack of knowledge.

I love this truck. And hope to enjoy it for years to come. I'll be sure to post yearly reviews of the Ranger, along with yearly reviews of add-on accessories, along with any thoughts or issues that arise.
