Today they are going after clothes dryers that run on propane and natural gas. Seems like real problems should be focused on before fairy tales.

It’s laughable that these politicians (paid off by special interest groups) are pushing to go electric anything. The vast majority of electricity comes by way of burning fossil fuels. Wind turbines aren’t efficient and take up a 100s of times the space of a conventional power plants. Same with solar. There’s a finite amount of land we have to use. They have to be subsidized by taxpayer money in order to compete with the other forms of energy (especially nuclear). Not to mention they make it damn near impossible to build much less operate a nuclear power plant anymore. They “regulate” them out of the market. If these political groups were truly worried about the environment or people’s health they would be updating the electric grid and going 100% nuclear energy. Zero emissions and its safety track record here in the United States is excellent. I can attest to how safe this generation of reactors are. I was ignorant until I actually started working on their systems. I’ve been in this industry for quite a few years and can honestly say it’s definitely the solution to so many “problems” (which by looking at who pays the funding for these awareness campaigns probably don’t actually exist-more fear mongering, seen it before). Nonetheless, if these problems exist, then this is the way forward.

As of now this is all done such ass-backwards is not even funny. Look at California make the push to electric vehicles and yet they have a power grid that can’t keep peoples homes heated in winter or the AC running in the summer. It’s all for show. They live right next to the ocean and yet every year are in a major drought. They’re regulating themselves out of using desalination plants. It’s mind boggling the decisions that these politicians are making at the expense of the people. Almost like politicians and the groups finding these campaigns stand to make billions of dollars.
Until we change how our electricity is generated, this push for electric is just an idiots pipe dream. Just follow what groups stand to make a substantial amount of money pushing this shit and it’ll start to make more sense.
There’s a right way to go about “green energy” but that’s not what this is about. It’s about money, power, and control over people and businesses to operate freely. Look at cap and trade, perfect example.
It's not about answers it's about control. Putting people in a situation where they can be easily controlled. Taking away cheap plentiful transportation is vital to this goal.

The nuclear accident in Japan is being used to scare people away from it. How about you don't built the plants in an earthquake zone or in a possible tsunami zone.

California just had enough rain to provide water for years but their laws against capturing rain water means the vast majority of it runs off into the ocean because that's what's "natural".

Yep, fear mongering sells. Three Mile Island here in the US was utter propaganda. Especially after they came out and showed It did the public no harm, and the dose rates the public received were very low. Less than a years exposure of natural radiation which is less than you’d get on a plane flight from NY to LA. Then the China Syndrome movie came out and did more harm than good. Scared people. Now we operate under the pretense than the public can’t receive any radiation exposure related to reactors in the event of an accident. Plain and simple, it’s safe. There are so many failsafes built in now it ridiculous. Some very smart people came up with this stuff. France interestingly enough, gets 95 percent of its power from nuclear and has it it figured out. And this is from someone who dresses out to go into contaminated/radiation areas weekly. I’m comfortable enough to do it because I know what controls we have in place. It really is a great technology. Not to mention the cancer studies going on right now with radioactive isotopes. I’m confident that in the future they will find a way to cure at least some cancers using this technology. Really good stuff, but then again it isn’t about actually helping people with the politicians, it’s about control. Why else would they want to be able to automatically shut off your power, gas, and vehicle? Why else would they want us “gun free”? The areas with the strictest gun control laws always have the highest gun related deaths. They know this, but it was never about saving lives. We have a societal problem that they will never try to fix. 40 years ago, guns were more readily available and yet we never had problems close to what we have now. Anything they can use to slowly wither away our rights is what they’ll do. I’m afraid one day in the future they’ll tell you what to eat, where you can go, where you will live, what you can say (they already do this now)etc. We saw a minor glimpse of that during COVID. China was welding people into their apartments not too long ago. It can always get worse here.

They’re more worried about going green then they are the demise of the country. Still waiting for old Biden to address the border crisis he created.

It is more profitable for the electric company to buy up the gas you would have used, turn into electricity, and then sell the electricity to you. Can't have the common man cutting into the profits of the power company. Its why people were lied to when told that they could sell excess electricity generated by home solar to the power company for the same price you would pay for electricity. The power company will buy that electricity from you, but only at the price it would have cost them to generate it themselves.

For how much I cook they'd need 2 lifetimes to recover what they spent taking my stove! I have an Electric stove now anyway but have gas heat an hot water. There are areas around me with "all electric" homes. It was a trend in the 70's during the energy shortage an some areas are so rocky it's difficult to run pipelines an service lines. It used to be if you were all electric you got a discount on the electric rate. It was an incentive to go all electric. That went away about 10 years ago, guess who was president an vice president. The two coal plants near me were replaced with natural gas operations.

I live between 2 Nuke plants. About an hour an a half each way. Never had a threat of a major problem but they have failed inspections a few times an were found lacking preventative maintenance. Holes were found in the reactor isolation walls. I think I read the newest Nuke plants in the US are around 50 years old. I'm all for building new ones.

People don't realize how many NPP we have in the US:

Nuclear power plants have generated about 20% of U.S. electricity since 1990
As of July 1, 2022, 92 nuclear reactors were operating at 54 nuclear power plants in 28 states. Thirty-two of the plants have two reactors, and three plants have three reactors. Nuclear power plants have supplied about 20% of total annual U.S. electricity since 1990. Learn more about the U.S. nuclear energy industry.

The United States generates more nuclear power than any other country
In 2020, 33 countries had commercial nuclear power plants, and in 17 of the countries, nuclear energy supplied at least 20% of their total annual electricity generation. The United States had the largest nuclear electricity generation capacity and generated more nuclear electricity than any other country. France, with the second-largest nuclear electricity generation capacity and second-highest nuclear electricity generation, had the largest share—about 69%—of total annual electricity generation from nuclear energy.

The average age of these nuclear reactors is about 40 years old. The oldest operating reactor, Nine Mile Point Unit 1 in New York, began commercial operation in December 1969. The newest reactor to enter service, Watts Bar Unit 2, came online in 2016—the first reactor to come online since 1996 when the Watts Bar Unit 1 came online.

We get ours from the Palo Verde Nuclear plant which is only about 45. minutes from me. It's the largest power producer in the country and serves AZ, parts of TX, NM, and CA.

https://www.paloverde.com

Palo Verde Generating Station has been the nation’s largest power producer for nearly 30 years – all of it clean and carbon-free. As the heart of the APS generation fleet, it provides the foundation for the reliable service our customers know they can count on.

The plant is a critical asset to the Southwest, generating more than 32 million megawatt-hours annually – enough power for more than 4 million homes and businesses.

We have Ginna about 14 miles east from us and another about 35 miles west. We are in the first response circle and they supplied us with potassium iodide pills when it was leaking years ago but they contained it quick. Funny thing I was told is most of the power it generates goes to the south east and we use fossil fuel. The new mega plants in planning will take at least 20 years to get online I have read.

It’s crazy how much one facility can power. They’re also working on ways to reuse the spent fuel as well. I think Nuclear is the best path forward all things considered. Once I started learning the details of how they operate, it’s pretty damn impressive. Some smart dudes out there who invented this stuff. Most of the early stuff was done without much help from computers.

....never about saving lives.

This.

Nobody gives a shit about saving lives. If they did, there would be a whole lot of talk about a 2nd prohibition.

Near 50% of all murders occur when the perp is drunk.

30% of traffic fatalities are due to drunks.

That right there is roughly 25k lives a year.

Apart from that... I'm willing to bet the majority of various crimes against women happen when alcohol is involved...

Shits no good.

That being said.... it's in our overlords best interest to keep us as drunk and as stupid as possible so ?‍♀

Here's an upbeat little tune about the joys of alcohol, for your aural pleasure.

I also say that's a big reason to allow the dumbing down in public schools.
