My 2019 Ranger's transmission started acting up at about 52k miles. A lot of 2-5 second lagging between 1/2 and 2/3shifts, some slipping followed by "CLUNK" shifts, and other funky shifts at speed once in a while. The problems mostly happened before the transmission reached operating temperature and it only threw a code once (I forget what it was).

Took it in to the dealership two days ago and got a call today that it is ready to go. They said they replaced the transmission valve body and reprogrammed the transmission. I plan to pick it up tomorrow and hopefully it is good to go.

This is my first real issue with the truck, and I just wanted to share in case other experience similar issues.

Sounds like a fairly easy fix. Sure hope it solves everything.

Wow that's to bad but good thing it was covered under warranty still. Sids @Msfitoy was blown at 95K and now this. This will sure start a panic now. 5-4-3-2-1 :bandit:

I wouldn’t necessarily be concerned but mine is consistently flaring going up steep hills and has just started doing the “hard shift at 5-10mph” even when cruising along at low throttle position until warmed up. I’m more concerned about the 200-300rpm “slip” when it shifts but was hoping some could confirm this is 100% what their truck does in “D” all the time.

If it fails under warranty, I’m hoping the revised transmission doesn’t do this…

Mine acted wonky too until I tuned it. Now it runs great and it takes away those sloppy shifts.

Same symptoms I had...the clunk became a slam that felt like a sledge hammer under the truck...slipping and slamming is a sign that the clutch and or torque converter has gone south...hope the valve body exchange will help in your case...buy extended warranty if you don't already have one...cheap compared to $6K for new transmission...

Ran mine with a 93 LMS tune since about 10k miles (fairly certain the tune had nothing to do with the problem) and went back to stock when it started acting up. I'll probably run their "tow tune" from here on out since the 93-performance tune makes me get stupid, haha.

I have the Livernois tune also and started out with the 91-93 performance tune. I ran that for about a year then flashed it to the 91-93 soft shift tune. I kind of like that one better and have stuck with it since. I know many others like the tow tune but I didn't care for it, maybe I didn't give it enough time though. I think I was around 7,000 miles when I first got it and yes, it is hard to drive "normal" and very easy to get stupid with it. lol

Hi Sid,

At $6K you are getting a deal and should buy two of them...

?

Best,
Phil
