Yeah, we had one of those in the 80's. We parked at some rest-stop, tied grandma's dog up to the bumper.
Later we left but forgot about poochie. I can only imagine his little legs. He probably kept up for a mile or two. Yep, sad day for Grandma.

I feel this is to be expected regardless of the Bronco debacle. My opinion is; in a perfect world where Ford flawlessly produces cars to simply fulfill demand without delay, the Maverick still beats the Ranger in sales. It's less expensive, it offers a hybrid power train, it is more similar to a sedan in size. But in my mind it's all about the price. Where else can you get a brand new "truck" (Mav is unibody,) for less than $30k? That's revolutionary for this market.

I don't consider the Ranger to be an expensive vehicle but it's far from inexpensive as well. There aren't many people who weren't previously shopping for a truck that will will spend close to $40k on a truck before they go looking at entry-level lux cars or small SUV's first. The Maverick being in the $20k range starting I believe is what catalyzed the wildfire. People started thinking - oh why not a cheap little truck!? It's so useful.


And a hybrid available in today's fuel market? How many times have you read "I want a PHEV Ranger" on these boards? Forgetaboutit.
