I am in the market again for a truck after 10 years and 183k miles on my 2013 F150 STX Scab. I like the styling and engine in the Ranger. I am a little concerned with storage and towing though.
I am an Arborist but generally do not haul around a lot of gear and do not tow a lot of heavy equipment. I have a 100lb golden that rides in the rear seat area regularly on our drives to and from our lake place along with all gear for our stay. I have a 3000lb boat I have to drop in the lake and recover after our stay. I plan on taking the boat on a few trips to Florida, usually less than 10 hours from our home in the Atlanta area.

I wanted Ranger owner's opinions before I make a purchase.

Thanks in advance

I've owned about a dozen F150's for business and while they suited my needs then they're just way to big now. The Ranger is the same size as my first F150 which I bought back in '96. It's the perfect size, easy to park (well for some of us ) and still fits in the garage. Unless you're towing something large or have a big family and need the extra cab space I think the Ranger is the perfect size for all around use.

We went on a month long trip back in June which totaled 5,000 miles. I was even more impressed with it going through some high mountain passes in CO and the way to handled and how comfortable it was driving long hours. The gas mileage was great too but that's going to be subjective on how you drive and the conditions.

My wife's 110 pound cuddle mutt and 70 pound pitty have plenty room in the back seat of my Scab. a single tiny 100 pounder will have PLENTY room.

As far as towing, all I do is 1000lb dinghy and the Ranger doesn't know it's there

As a firewood whore, I can fill up the bed and it handles it wonderfully. that's a little over half a cord.

Rangers(as the ladies say) are a good size, in my opinion, and do great on gas for the abilities of the truck

I tow a 3800 lb camper in the Spring and Summer about 8-10 times. I live in the Smoky Mountains and go up giant hills, around steep curves, etc. No issues at all so far.

I have a cool Dashund (Oscar) that rides with us, as hard as that is for my OCD. I fit all of the gear in the back, I'm still out on the 5 foot bed, but it's ok. A bedliner is a must.

I traded in a 2016 F-150 for this Ranger. Had no idea I wanted one until I saw it. I have no regrets, but I am worried about this 10 speed transmission, especially where I live, but I guess that's why they make warranties.

Gas mileage is about the same as a F-150. 270 HP at 310 Lb torque is just right for me personally. Not sure if the hybrid/electric future is part of your decision, but something to consider. Bottom line-I like my truck and it's a keeper for me. I saw someone add a pic of their buddy..had to do the same.

Size & ability. Perfect size with the ability do a lot of truck stuff. Mine is a 19 STX FX4 crewcab. Made 5 trips total from Texas to Mo with a loaded 6X12 U-Haul trailer plus the bed & back seat full no issues. Worst mileage pulling was 12.5. Those trips up were like 12 hours very comfortable. About 3 1/2 yrs old with a little over 35,000 (S)miles. Like someone stated mileage may vary by personal (AB)use. :like:

I have owned a few F-150’s and a diesel F-250 and the biggest pro of the Ranger is its size. I can go on trails where the bigger trucks can’t or can’t as easily. Mileage is another pro. I recently towed my, albeit light, camping trailer for 11 hours and averaged 15.9 mpg. While my Tremor is rated at 19/19, I find it actually does a few mpg better on the highway than its EPA rating.

I sold an F150 and bought a Ranger. 2 things . . . . Parkability and price. My prior F150 wasn't too big to drive, but it was nightmarish I'm busy parking lots and parking decks. Also saved at least 10k on the price, maybe more.

I thought with 2023 we were not gonna take any shots at Tracy….wow. That lasted a whole day…

Nope it was only until the end of 2022. No way could I wait a whole year without getting a shot (or three) in. ?

Simple for me...F150 is too big to fit into my garage, and HOA requires no cars/trucks in the driveway and garage door down...

Best,
Phil

I wanted and test drove an F-150, but like Phil it wouldn't fit in my garage.
Ranger fits (barely), gets about 25 MPG, and is easy to park and drive.
I'm very glad now that the F-150 did not fit!

I had a ‘20 F150 SCREW bought new after having 15 or so full size Silverados- traded it in for my ‘21 SCREW Tremor, I haven’t looked back. Big trucks are more of a pain to park and just get around town like everyone says, and I think a smaller truck is ultimately better off-road. I wish the bed was 6’ so I could sleep back there on fishing trips but I haven’t had to worry about that yet.
