#3 vs. #6

I am just curious at this point the difference between these two channels. Same thing on rear right light as well.

Hi Jack,

I am not familiar with the newer electrical architecture, but if you are seeking a signal pick up, I would recommend #6 as signal output...I have no idea what #3 is. When I wired my Ranger for towing behind my RV, I spliced into #6 with a diode to activate Left Turn signal from the RV to the Ranger Left taillight without backfeeding into the Ranger wiring.

best,
Phil

I actually use #3 to get my rear rack lights to work. Interesting.

Hi Jack,

I used my probe with the left T/S activated until the probe blinked and I tapped into that wire. I did not use the wiring diagram...Much easier to get the signal you desire and splice. All I can say is it works for me and my RV... Signal out is likely for Trailer hook up... JMO.

What are the ramifications of #3...IDK...

Phil

On a side note, I solved a very long standing issue with getting sequential turn signals to work if you ever stumble across anyone asking. Sequentials do not work with the Ford trailer system. The flip side is if you wire directly to the tail lamps, your brake lights will over-ride your turn signal lights if you use both at same time.

The fix was to use a Curtis 3-2 converter, a product meant for vehicles without an existing trailer wiring system, but in my case wiring that to the tail lamps, then to my rear rack lights solved all my issues and my sequential turn signals work great now.

Pin 3 - Park Lamp Power
Pin 2 - Stop Lamp Power
Pin 4 - Turn Signal Power
Pin 5 - Reverse Lamp Power
Pin 6 - Output Power Feed back to the BCM (Turn Outage), this is the monitoring circuit that generates the hyper-flash (turn signal) on the dash if you have a bulb burned out. Both Front and Rear tie into this circuit

So, if I am correct Pin 4 and Pin 6 - are only powered with the Turn Signal (flashing light) You will not have solid light to power the Rack Lights.

Pin 3 is correct, for your Rack Lights
