Looks good! I hope to get mine put on this weekend. Run into any problems with the install?
Just use a good strut spring compressor, don't decompress the spring until you get the control arm and sway bar link conected. Learned that after struggling with the first side. :frown:

Damn it! That's a really clever idea!

I was just going to wrap 3 bags of play sand in a drop cloth for each side and ratchet strap them against the wheel wells, but yours is a far better idea!

Thanks!
Thanks. I did something similar on a Ranger I owned a while ago. My two Sport Tracs carried more weight in the rear so I didn't feel the need for sandbags. The box at the front of the bed is a plastic storage tote with my towing stuff, jumper cables, etc. that I drilled a pair of 1" holes in and secured to the bed hooks with a tie-down.

That's a good idea with the tote. I have a SuperCab and am collecting too much stuff on the floor of the jump seats.

I have some recovery gear, a come-along, rachet straps, chain, some tools, tire chains, shovel, and a few other things that I need to shift to the bed.

I don't want anything like the swing out cases and would rather have something I can easily access and also easily remove for my dump runs.

I was looking at metal boxes but they're expensive and would not be easy to slide out.

Your tote would be a good solution for me. With a BedRug, I might not need to tie it down.

I'll mess around with some Rubbermaid totes we have and see how that works.

Yours is holding up okay? I'd think it could wear on them quickly with tools in them, but I guess at their economical cost, who cares how long they last.

Mine has been holding up fine. Fits under the tonneau. I used to have a slightly larger one but it was interfering with some stuff I have to haul for work. Sport Tracs have three storage compartments in the bed floor but when I got the Ranger I had to find a place to put all that stuff.

Yes.

You can't disable the daytime running lights. It's on all the time. It dims when headlights are on.
How was the install and the wiring connections? One plug? or a bunch of connections to make? I couldn't find any instructions on the website. I am leaning towards these instead of the Alpharex.

It's plug and play with the existing wire harness. There's one extra wire that needs to go to the fuse box. Instructions will tell you which fuse

As for the installation, it's not easy. There's several videos on YouTube that shows you how to remove the headlights.

Thanks!

I've already taken it about half away down once, so I am comfortable with all of disassembly and figure on taking my time. Can you share the instructions on the wiring? Is the fuse on the inside by the steering wheel or the fuse box under the hood. Thanks again.

Thinkin' about doing the fogs too.

Great pic and clever with the strap going through the bin. I like that you keep in place and it looks like you can slide it to either side if you need space for a longer piece of cargo (thinking of big box store errands).

Trying to get from Vancouver WA to Astoria OR and the US30 West is blocked by a landslide. Ended up on a 12 mile hike up the logging roads which was pretty hairy. Thankful for the old 4X4.

Exactly. The pic of the open box with the tie-down running through it is the original larger box. Once a week in the summer I have to haul a folding table for work and it didn't leave enough room so I got a smaller tote. Slide it to one side and everything fits.

FWIW, the swing case I have lifts off the hinge. It takes about 5 seconds to have it out of the bed when I need full bed access.

Also, the lid locks, is weather tight, there is a lock that prevents it from being removed from the hinge and there is a tab you can add a lock to prevent it from swinging out.

Yup. I have a tendency to play with "rattle cans" especially underneath. Take stuff apart clean, paint, reinstall. Very few see the work but I do it for me not anyone else. The masking job on the FOX shock cover is my wife's work.
I also regularly wash the undercarriage, I hate playing with dirty stuff. The one photo is my 78 LC with 350 Chevy.

I like the way they work and they are a really efficient use of space. I was originally looking for a permanent aluminum pork chop box, but never found one for the Ranger. Of course, that would be a more permanent mount.

Do you use one or two of them? If only one, what side?

I use driver side only, and i modified mine with a plywood divider to help keep things seperate.

for my use it contains my ratchet straps, the small parts holder has a charging cable, and misc small tools, The other side of the plywood, has my primary ball mount, 2 balls, and a 30" crescent wrench. , plus a old nylon coat. (going on 20 years old now) that works as an emergency, coat, or something to lay on the ground on.

mounted to the outside is a plastic molle panel, that has a flashlight and waterproof hiking med kit.
