“ we few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

I wish there was some easy way to shine light on my flag at night.
When I was working, I always put out the flag on weekends unless the weather was bad. Now that I am retired, I put up the flag everyday that the weather allows. It used to be that my home was about the only one that had a flag flying but I am very pleased to see more and more people in the neighborhood flying the flag.

We have a cluster of neighbors that fly it regularly. Like you I base it on the weather.

its been tough for me separate the flag and mental image of our nation from my feelings about some of its members of government lately. no i am not anti flag or ashamed unamerican etc. however, reading over the posts here has reminded me that our flag is not a symbol of the jackasses in government offices. the flag is a symbol of the people that made our freedom possible at high cost. so thank you 5g brothers and sisters for helping me get my attitude squared away.

It make sense that after the Marine Coprs Birthday, it's Veterans Day.
The second pics, is how we Marines start our November 10th every year. The 1st pic, was Samuel Nicholas, recruited a bunch of drunks and became the Marines.

Kent that's a good idea to keep the flag out even if its not a holiday...the flag represents so much! I was fortunate to have my exterior light located near to the top of the garage door so was able to attach the flag mounting bracket to the top edge of the garage door frame. People going by can see it all night. :)

There's so many solar spotlights out there now that's always an easy option too. They have ones that are ground mounted and eve mounted where the mini solar panel has a lead to place in a good spot to get sunlight. Makes it much easier than having to wire a spotlight in areas that hard hard to get to.

Thank you for the comments of respect and the likes etc. My time in uniform has ended, but it means a lot that people give a shit about the blood, sweat, tears, and time those who have worn the uniform gave up to defend the country. Even if indirectly. Either in peace time or war we all signed up for at least 8 years (unless you were drafted or a serious old timer... and not sure about coast guard on that - but most......).
