One Piece Driveshaft

I installed my Tom Woods driveshaft today. One word, Wonderful!!!
For two years of dealing with the shudders, clunks, and vibrations and they're now gone.
I agree with all that has been said from others who have changed to a one-piece driveshaft.
It was well worth it!

I even believe that my transmission is shifting smoother as a result of the driveshaft switch! This is BY FAR the best $$ that I have spent on my Ranger.... and I love my AMP Research PowerStep.

I just read a couple of threads where people injected silicone caulk into the center bearing rubber support gaps on Toyota Tacoma's to help with the shudder.

I guess we do have something in common with these guys.

Ah. So, the 2-pc drive shaft shudder and vibration are not isolated to Ford Rangers.

I you do a search for driveline shudders you will find many brands afflicted with this issue over time. Shawn Woods said he builds driveshafts for Tacoma's regularly. Some previous generation Rangers had the issue. Chevy, Ford, and Dodge(Ram) have all had these issues over the years.

I would suggest keeping the 2 piece handy if you're still under warranty , any rear end leaks or whatnot is gonna be blamed on the driveshaft when the dealer sees it , but if he doesn't see it , then ...

@TJC, @navsnipe, and others such as @quangdog : Your posts reporting on how well the shaft is working for you make me very happy, thank you. This is and always has been how I measure our success as a business/brand, by how good of a job we can do and by how happy we can make our customers. My dad, Tom Wood, is semi-retired, he doesn't come into the office anymore and is in more of a remote consultant role. I called him on my way home yesterday and told him about how well this shaft seems to be working and how happy people are about it. I did not call him to tell him about the money we made when we sold the shafts, as that part is honestly less important to both of us. The goal always has been and always will be to make the best products and offer the best customer service, to create something of value that customers are happy with, hearing from customers like you make me feel like we are achieving that goal. Thank you.

If you put a Sticker on the vehicle they try and find a way to use that as an excuse ?

Disturbing?
You should see how much the shaft goes up and down with the suspension movement, you might become terrified.

For two years I have dealt with the shudder and vibration issue and is well documented on this forum. I have dealt with two dealerships, a Ford Technical Service Manager (corporate level), and a Field Service Engineer in an attempt to fix my truck. The end result was "this is the best it's going to get, your shudder is pretty mild compared to some of the other Rangers we have seen" I reached out to a close family member who has worked for Ford for the past 27+ years and he was the one who facilitated the FSE interaction. It does not seem that Ford wants to provide a solution to the problem, probably number one reason is cost, secondly, they have bigger problems to fix on other products, and thirdly, the Ranger seems to be the least marketed vehicle in the lineup

I did my research and spoke with many people for possible solutions. I understand the risks of a one-piece driveshaft. Tom Woods stands by their product and if the driveshaft did not do what I expected they would take it back and refund my money.

Shawn Woods reached out to you for your technical advice only for you to accuse him of baiting you. I have spoken with Shawn on a few occasions now and find him to be sincere, intelligent, and very open to learning about his craft wherever possible.

I would be very hesitant on buying another Ford product based upon my experience with my 2020 Ranger. I owned a new 1994 Ranger for about six years and it was a very good experience. I had a driveline shudder on that truck too. The difference is the service manager gave me his truck for the day, took mine to get fixed, and returned it with no shudder. No drama, no excuses.

I see both sides of the argument, and you at least understand the risks with a one piece, because the risks are there.
Others won't.
They will blindly buy into this shaft as the solution to the problem they may not have properly investigated and won't fully comprehend the other side of the equation.
