My truck is at 21k, and i took it to the ford quick lane for oil change. They are recommending fuel injection cleaning since they're is no fuel filter to change. I don't see it in the recommended mile maintenance. I told them to go ahead. I was wondering if anyone else has done it this early.

How much did they charge you? I'd have a talk to the manager...

Would this be a walnut blasting cleaning or something like it? Probably good for these trucks but I don’t imagine you would need them so early.

I run a bottle of this on all my vehicles with direct injection about 500 miles prior to when I plan to do/have an oil change. (i.e. the cleaner is flushed out before the oil is changed.). I have read it can somewhat deteriorate oil, which is why I only run it just prior to the oil change. Whether that is true, YMMV.

Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner

One of my Subarus (2016 Forester w/ 2.0L DI turbo) is subject to low speed pre-ignition (LSPI) on low quality gas. I have found, IMHO, that this cleans things out and I haven't had knocking in a couple years.

I just asked one of the workers and they recommend it every year. Its just a fuel injector service flush. Charged me $116 for it.

Yea I'm going to a new dealership if someone recommends some BS like that. Recent CPI says vehicle maintenance is one of the front runners for inflation, and they want to rip you off on top of that

Today's major brand gasoline has enough detergents in it. Fuel injection cleaning is a waste of money.

Of course they "recommended" it...they just made around $113.00 profit for snake oiling you for some fuel injector cleaner.
That $116.00 would have been better spent over a period of time using top tier premium gas.

I put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through approx. every 5000 miles, and upper cylinder lubricant every other tank.
As with most additives, and oils for that matter, find a brand you like and follow what the label on it says. Our owners manual just assumes you're using Ford additives, oil & filters.
