I have a big raccoon that lives under my house, I tried to catch him in a live (Havaheart) trap. Well he got in the trap and tore it all to hell and escaped.Soooo. I bought Duke Dp trap. Dp means dog proof. The coon has to teach down inside to grab the bait and it closes on his leg.

So I set it up with a 5ft 5/16 chain attached to the trap chain with a window weight (5 lbs) on the end, In the morning, Trap, chain and window weight gone. I took the dog all around the property but it rained all night and left no scent. Also the trap was stuck firmly in the ground When it was set.
So, How bout that !

Rabies = Death

  • If treatment is not received and symptoms begin to appear, death from respiratory failure is almost always inevitable.
But some are adorable anyway

Hindsights always 20/20, but 5lbs is nothing to a big raccoon. I’ve got a big ol’ coon that hangs around my cabin. He would probably pick up 5lbs and throw it at me.

Yes, as Rinn suggested (on PM) changing to a cement block. I have all the other materials on the way.

Yes, cement block is the ticket. Wild critters are amazingly clever.

3 years ago my grapes were ready to pick and I decided to give them 1 more day. Must have been 70 to 100 pounds of them on the vines and I was planing on making wine with them. Next day I go out to pick them and the vines are all torn up with very few grapes left. Walking around looking for clues of what ate them and a couple feet away I found a big dead coon with a fat belly. I think that sucker Oded on the grape seeds. Piles of coon crap with grape seeds all around the vines. They did the same thing to my corn 1 year but none were left behind. They are no fun to have around.

My experience with buzzards and packrats is the buzzards eat them raw...
