Is the OEM Soft Folding Over Rail Design Tonneau Cover for 6.0' Bed worth the extra money? Looking at photos and Ford Tonneau has smooth rounded corners where some cheaper aftermarket covers are just squared off. Decided on Soft Folding type, but not sure if paying double for Ford OEM is worth it.

Worth the money? That's subjective. I really like mine, soft tri-fold. And the embossed ford logo on it looks cool. And it is well made. But, I'm sure there are cheaper ones out there that are equal in quality.

oem covers are like oil, they're made by same companies in the same factory.

You're essentially paying for a logo to be added. Tuxedo makes the ram/toyota "oem"covers if I recall correctly.

And tuxedo is made in the same factory as my branded one.

I bought a Gator SFX for like $240 (actually directly from them on sale, just checked) and it has rounded corners, fits water tight (it took a while to figure out exactly where the instructions said to put some of the smaller sticky foam bits that made a big difference in sealing the bed up between the cab and the bed)

I have no way to compare it directly to the OEM unit, so can't say if they are the same or different.

I bought the oem version because I could use my points on it. Brought the cost way down.

Check out BAK soft and rolling type. They’ll last if you get any of them
My BAK hard rolling X4S broke in the Florida heat over the weekend. I’m kinda shocked it broke. Only had the thing for 6 months or so. It won’t lay flat now because the metal broke where the pieces roll into each other. It’s already causing it to delam now. reached out to Stage3motorsports about it. Hopefully they’ll help me warranty this thing.

Wow, That’s a first with them. I’ve never seen that before with a BAK product. I’m sure they will take care of you though.

Tuxedo & Gator SFX both have good reviews and look good, but found a local Ford dealer 25% off, still couple hundred dollars more than aftermarket. I'm going with the "FORD Logo" Thanks for the info.

Like oil?
Bad analogy and coffee didn't kick in yet.

I was meaning like oil brands, they're usually made in the same factory. My gator brand cover was made in the same place as tuxedo, and maybe "tonno pro" or whatever. Weather tech, Tuxedo, gator.. They all get their brackets and materials from the same places.

You're paying for branding if we're talking about the same style; Low profile roll-up.

Lol, I'm with you on the coffee!! Ya, I'm under the impression the OEM mud guards and the Tecoom ones that are popular on Amazon, are the same ones.
And it's not a bad analogy about the oil, especially OEM oil. They all get it from the highest bidder or the lowest supplier. Proof in point, my Ranger no longer sounds like a sewing machine since switching out the OEM oil. And I bet I have twice the torque in 4L since changing the transfer case fluid .

So I took a gamble and ordered the X4s from Amazon "like new" for $650 with a note saying box was damaged. I figured when it arrived, if irreparable, I'd just return it. One of the slats had dislodged like that while in its packaging and I was able to get it to line back up and "re-engage" in the slot.

Should be much easier to do on that end of the cover. But wear gloves. I did get a nasty blood blister on my finger when it got pinched during my efforts.

As delivered.

That said... my bottom corner piece was also broken. I contacted bak, sent proof of purchase and they sent me a new corner piece set. I mentioned the dislodged slats and they sent me a whole new cover no questions asked. I still haven't installed it, and will then have to drill holes in the old one to "keep my warranty intact". I'll get to it some day.

Either way, should be a simple fix to get it back in there, or warranty it out (and get a new cover). Good luck!
