Our dealers can’t keep the lariat tremor models on the lot. I got lucky and was able to put a hold/down payment on one that they had in transit. So I only had to wait a month instead of 4 plus for a special order. Thankfully - they’re not tacking on the ridiculous “market adjustment fee” out here. At least they weren’t when I was looking at the beginning of January…

Question for guys ordering 2022 Rangers. Why not buy off the lot?
I did a search and there are over a 100 Rangers in various trim levels, 21 and 22 models within 200 miles of my location. Not bashing anyone, just curious?

Maybe tougher to find in other parts of the country?
I will be holding on to my 2019 Lariat for the time being, but when the time comes to upgrade (Ranger Tremor, Ranger Raptor, Bronco, Everest?), I will build it online and take possession at my habitual dealer. I want to have everything just so, with all the features I want, including accessories, and, ideally, none of those I do not want. Since buying a new truck involves, at least for us, plunking down a pretty serious piece of change, I do not want to be making any compromises.

I have almost always just found a truck I wanted on a lot. Never ordered. I drive a lot of miles so rarely have a truck for more than 5 years. If I was going to keep longer ordering would make the most sense. Moving forward we may not have a choice. Seems like Ford wants customers to order. Less inventory on the dealer lots. The only option I wouldn’t want That came on my tremor is the red grille nostrils. ?

i ordered mine last November with Granger in Iowa. They offer 3% off of the invoice price. Look up the threads in the Ordering and Pricing forum. I saved thousands off what the dealerships here had on the few models actually on the lot. They were priced several thousand above MSRP.

No Rangers on the lot in my area. Barely f150s.

I originally was going to order a Maverick but waited too late, and it worked out a lot better. I reevaluated what my "real" wants were and the Ranger is far better for me, even though it cost more and has less high-tech stuff (like the Sync and drive modes).

There are very few Rangers around me and none as 2WD Supercabs. I also want it to be pretty bare bones because we'll use this for kayaking, so the biggest bed and the tow package were important. Not to say that I'm cheap (I prefer "economical"), but it's a 101A with carpeted floors.

That keeps it with the highest payload and makes it easy for the two of us to load up, along with our 20 pound dog. I never thought about the Supercab being easier for gear since you don't have to walk around an open door to get to the back.

I didn't want 4WD, I still drive my 1972 FJ40 that I've owned since 1976! Now that's a 4WD!

But what's awesome about Ford Rangers, is that you can configure them how you want. If I had a zillion dollars, I'd certainly also get a Tremor—it would give my FJ40 a run for it's money! :like:

But ordering was good, not just for getting the model we feel is best for us, but also because we don't mind the wait (well, I'm like a little kid, already have my list of aftermarket stuff all lined up from tow hitches to bed rugs to seat covers). Plus, since it's an order, I can get Race Red!

I was able to wait 4 months to save $5,000 (lot Tremors are $4k above MSRP, and I got $1k below MSRP for ordering through my dealer) and get exactly the truck I want.

Of all four "local" dealers I have, none of them had the specs I wanted, if they had any Rangers on the lot at all. And with the way things are going, I'd rather order to my specifications - and with the difference in the configurations I ran (STX vs XLT), the price difference was so minimal that after the fact, I liked the look of the XLT much more. So I went with that.
That's what we have in my area also. Most all of the trucks have a strange mix of options, or have every option possible running the price of the truck to the top. I understand the last part as dealers are trying to make up for the lean times. Like you I ordered my Super Cab so I could get it just like I wanted.

Same here. I ordered a Maverick and 7 months later I've had enough. I too. Had a hard time finding a Ranger I wanted. Almost all inbound orders were retail or purchased while in route.
I found a Cyber orange Tremor and darn near bought it. But the payments were more then I wanted. Even with the 12000.00 equity I had in my trade.
Drove 50 miles to find out another ranger I liked (Hot pepper red) was sold while I was driving there!
Coming home. I stopped at another dealer not feeling like I'd find one. And there it was on the showroom floor!

Tremors off the lot in my area are marked up $10K over sticker price. Plus they want an additional $2K for their resistal protection package and a few more hundred for etching and on top of all that wont take x-plan. I ordered from a little further away because they allowed x-plan on orders and paid $2K under sticker price. I did have to wait over 6 months but it was worth it.

This one was at sticker price. No mark ups. Which surprised me.
