Maybe some rubbing compound will help you buff it out.

Some POS keyed my truck! I haven't had it for a month yet!

That’s really bad! On the same note I had a guy wash my truck, he must have had sand on the sponge and put deep scratches in my windshield.

That is grounds for execution in most states.

Sorry to see that happen.

Count me in the "I Hate People" group. I find myself saying that a few times a week. I'm sure Karma will catch up to the guy...just too bad you are not the one dishing out the Karma.

AHH!!!MAN!!!...
Try to think it might have been accidental if that would help keep the anger down.
Check with a good shop, they can do wonders nowadays, maybe they could even fix it without painting the whole panel.
Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

Can't tell from the picture, but I have fixed some scratches which appeared to be that bad by first rubbing it down with waterless hand cleaner then using polishing compound.
Its worth a try if you can't catch a fingernail in the scratch.

LOL I think he can put his whole hand onto that scratch.....looks like metal under there. Try to fix it yourself. If you can learn to do that scratches will not make you crazy, The worse that could happen is you have to go to a body shop or a place that does paint corrections.

You can obviously see it better than I. ( or he has tiny hands:giggle:)
Without seeing it in person I won't argue with you, but my experience is as I said.
It costs nothing to carefully try.
Maybe get a kit or hire a professional after cleaning it up and assessing the damage.

I have learned to fix it myself, and scratches still make me angry, Try spending a thousand hours building a car from "scratch", then take it to a car show with a bunch of careless spectators, with big belt buckles, sharp jewelry, strollers, or even purses with metal ornamentation. Let alone some inconsiderate person kicking their car door open after parking too close.

Ever tried a scratch pen?... I have one but I have never used it

This one looks easily easily repairable. Typical rule of thumb, if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, it may need paint.

If you are uncomfortable around running a buffer over your paint, you can do a couple of things. Bring it to a body shop and ask their opinion on buffing it out. Bring it to a repair shop that utilizes 3M paint refinishing products. They are the best products in the world to removed defects such as yours. A good shop will start with the least aggressive product and see if the scratch buffs out. They work up the aggressive level until they find the product that works. 3M even has some wet or dry sanding palate that can fix this in one step.

A second option is to bring it to the dealer and ask them who they use to repair small damage such as this. There are companies that have mobile units that drive all over and fix theses boo boo’s. When they are done you would never know it was there.

The last option would be to bring it to a body shop and have them repaint the quarter panel.

Whatever you do, make sure to request the repair not go on the Carfax site. Then you won’t have any explained not to do when it comes time to sell it.
