What soap product do you put in a foam cannon? Thanks. Does this thing include shooting wax on it as well? How do you do wax if not with the foam cannon please. Thanks.

Hi Folks,

Margie and I are going to the Elks club to dance to our favorite band, Desert Treasure and have dinner in the lounge with limited menu. So to arrive in style, I am going to Octopus car wash to give the Nautilus a bath... As we are water conservation aware...this makes the most sense as washing in the driveway can result in a ticket if the water makes its way to the street...although it has never been to be enforced.... Another stupid law on the books....

best,
Phil
They'll give you a ticket for water in the street? I could never live in an area like that because I enjoy hand washing my vehicles. I mean I'm all for conserving water but that's getting a little ridiculous.

I use Chemical Guys Honey Dew Snow Foam. You should use a good foaming soap so it sticks to the vehicle then runs down. That way it attaches itself to the dirt and pulls it down with it.

No you can't use a foam cannon to apply the wax, it has to be done by hand. The spray waxes go on so fast and much easier than the old paste waxes. Those you'd just about break your wrist by the time you applied it then buffed it out. You can spray on most speed detailers while it's wet than dry with a chamois or microfiber drying towel.

Snow Foam:

Here's a link to how I apply the Graphene. It's really easy to use and lasts up to a year.

Hand wash except for the middle of winter when I run it through a touchless wash. Gets it pretty clean, sprays off the salt underneath (truck is Ziebarted), and it's better than nothing.

I'm all for conserving water but that's getting a little ridiculous.

My nephew was stationed in North Carolina an he keeps his cars spotless inside and out. They passed emergency water conservation measures there. No at home washing your cars and no watering your lawn. He hates car washes an enjoys the hand washing for some crazy reason so he hated it. A year or two into this the city raised the water rates because they weren't "selling" enough water to cover the operating expenses. (I think it was NC he was talking about so I'll put an * on the area).

I'd like to throw in my washing option, it is neither hand wash nor car wash.

I let God wash it with rain. My 2005 Scion has been washed less than a half a dozen times, by me, since I've owned it. It's still a cheap little car and I doubt washing it more would change its value.

But ... that said ... I'm pretty excited about getting a Ranger and will probably wash it a few times, at least in the first year! =D

If I ever build another house it will have an HVAC system (mini split) and a drain in the garage. This way I can can wash my vehicles in comfort and no one will know. ?

I have a friend here who does that. Only problem is it doesn't rain much and his car & truck always looks like a big dusty mess. lol

I guess I should have also mentioned that our water rates are incredibly high here. I don't know why, but they're many times higher than any other place we've lived. And on top of that, our water supply was contaminated by PFAS (spelling?) and cancer rates are higher here too. Bah, probably better that I don't wash it, our crappy water might peel the paint! =p

when we built our house, I had them run hose bibs for hot and cold water in the garage. Hot water is nice to have during cooler weather

It's really convenient having those in the garage. Our water heaters are in the garage so I could tap into it easily if I wanted to. I do have a water softener which I added a spigot to so now I run my power washer right off of that. It takes away all the hard water spots makes washing the vehicles much easier. In the summer our Tap water is so hot you don't even need the hot water heater on. Seriously, I turn mine off around the end of April and back on the end of October. ?
