At least ya got to keep the same color. Sounds like you have a plan that will make you happy. Hope it shakes out the way ya want. Very nice looking car. What engine does it have in it?

if my Dad bought a car and told me it would be mine in ten years, i would be like "bitch? that car be old and rusted out by then, out of style and in need of constant repairs. you want me to live with you forever? or do you want me to have some hottie by my side and getting our own place? Aint happening with a ten year old hand me down"
You sir are what we are keeping our kids from turning out to be like. You come off entitled and ungrateful with that comment. My stepson will be out of the house at 18 and if he doesn't like the car tough, he gets what he gets. Plus I detail on the side and take very good care of my vehicles so this car will actually still be very nice at that point.

I took it to be satirical. Surely, there are a lot of 20-somethings that will never leave Ma's basement, but most do find their own way in the world; if for no other reason than to get out from under all the "When I was your age" mantra.

On the other hand, my son has been driving my old "hand me down" Escape for the last 5-6 years.
He has a nice home and a beautiful wife&family. ( And of course a Mini-Van)

He has been trying to buy a new Maverick, but durable goods are hard to come by in a transitional economy where, as Kipling said...

" In the Carboniferous Epoch, we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selective Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy"
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: 'If you don't work you die.'

Given the choice between a 1994 dodge neon and a 2023 decked out minivan

Neon it is! The escape is like driving a viper.
I drove a minivan. Please don't tell anyone.

Lol

I agree(she has a Toyota)
However.... I do own a SWB Transit Connect which handles like an RS Focus, has a 1500# payload and tows my travel trailer. It is near the top of the list of nearly 100 vehicles which I have owned over the years.

The Mustang II never should have been. It was a huge pile of crap! I think it had a whopping 120 HP.

My answer to you would be… Son, you’re an ungrateful ingrate. Take your date on a walk or spring for an Uber. Keep it up and you’ll be getting charged with rent and more chores!

Fastest way I know to bring out the good old gangster in dad is to be a sarcastic asshat! ?

I disagree, the Mustang II shared the basic Pinto Chassis which made it one of the best handling Mustangs ever built. Even though it was about the same size as a 1965 Mustang, it was a FAR better car. All 1970's V8 performance cars were pathetic out of the factory. A 1978 Cobra could be a real performance car with only a couple hundred dollars in mods.
The Mustang II was a bit heavy for the 2.3L but no worse than the 170CID (2.8L)in the first gen.

The 67-70 cars were great performance cars and could be optioned for a variety of tasks.

The 1971- 73 Mustangs were much larger cars and nice for high speed highway touring, .
The Fox body Mustangs were great but took years of chassis development.
IMO the worst Mustangs (for styling) HAD to be the 1999-2004 and even some of them looked good.

Early Mustang was a glorified Falcon
Next came the glorified Fairlane/Torino
Then the glorified Pinto
Followed by the glorified Fairmont....
Mustang really improved with the SN95
Now, the newest Mustang is the best ever!

Each iteration had some great cars for the times, but you can thank the Mustang II for the continued production of the name plate through some tough automotive times.

140 neck-snapping hp with the 302V8 2bbl. The Mustang II and sister Pinto are great demolition derby cars.
