So, we are on our first big adventure with our new Ranger towing our Minnie Winnie TT. Kansas City to Phoeniz and return. To help with the small tank issue I brought along the 6 gallon tank from my fishing boat and the battery transfer pump I use to empty mowers, etc. at the end of the year.
First time I tried to transfer from the extra tank into the Ranger ended up with fuel all over the side of the truck and my shoe.

After a while I found the funnel and it made my life easier!

We were pushing some petty hellacious winds for much of the trip and the hand calc on the mpgs was 10.9, not great but it's okay.

There seems to be something inside the filler tube on the truck that won't let the nozzle of my pump to flow into the tank.
I can't imagine trying to pour gas from a can into the filler.
Does anyone know what's going on and how I can work around it. BTW, I stopped at a Lowes and bought a short 1.25 in. pipe to push in to simulate a gas pump, but no go.

Hi Mike,

Another reason to read the owner's manual...saves your shoes... funnel is used to fill from an external source as the capless filler also allegedly prevents fuel theft...

best,
Phil

The same with every other internet automotive forum. I still haven't looked for the Ranger's funnel as I bought a DEF funnel from Walmart and found the funnel that comes from the factory on my 300. I suspect most folks don't even know these funnels are even there.

Regarding automotive forums, I find this forum habited by mostly experienced owners, mostly mature owners. In the 300 forums I participate in, it seems to be mostly kids who bought someone else's 'problem' and are looking for a quick internet diagnosis.

Thinking I'll go out later today and look for Ranger's funnel.

Depicted is the funnel that came with the 300. Mounted to the bottom of the trunk floor panel. Once lifted, allows access to the battery, spare tire and accessory fuel funnel.

Can confirm that siphoning gas from the capless system is impossible with typical tubing and no funnel. (took gas from car to fuel four wheeler during a several day snow storm to help people out of jams not an admission to a crime)

Welp, I have to confess to mostly never reading an owner's manual, especially for a motor vehicle. Dumb or stubborn, don't know. BTW... I hate to ask for directions, too.
My 2013 RAM only came with a DVD manual and I sure didn't go through that. Thankfully, it did come with a printed diesel supplement, which I did read. Actually a couple times.
Anyway, went out this morning and tore the truck apart and failed to find the funnel.
Has anyone driving a supercab found the funnel? If so, please give me a clue where to look.
Or maybe it's like the radio antenna mast that did not come with my truck and it will be up to me to buy one.

TIA

The funnel location is a secret known only to those who take a peak inside the owner's manual.

If it turns out that your truck didn't come with one, or you decide that as a matter of principle you won't sacrifice your stubbornness to look up where it's at, they are available for sale lots of places. I wanted an extra I could keep on the garage shelf, so I bought one at Menards. I don't remember the exact price, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.
