Well around the metro Boston area some dealers are well stocked. One dealer I looked at had 51 Rangers. However 45 were crew cabs. Mostly Lariats. In fact every dealer I looked at had almost no super cabs . The ones they had that were XLT's were loaded up with running boards, tech package & fancy appearance crap., BUT no tow package! Finally found an XLT
Ingot silver super cab with just the 302a & a tow package that was on order. Would have preferred not to have the ebony interior but I can live with it. Put a deposit on it yesterday. Scheduled delivery of 5/28 > 6/3.

This is one of the things that all manufactures do when they come out with a new model they load the dealers up with heavily optioned units sometimes it works out and they make big profits from the first units out. But it happens quite often that this strategy backfires and sales are effected.

Lorain county Ohio dealers are sitting on maybe 3 super crew each. I have only seen 1 other ranger on the street in this area.

Here in central NC I just scanned 9 pages (88 Rangers) of one Ford franchise and all but one are R4E or R4F model codes. (1) R1F and only options were Tech and bed packages. If it had the diff lock I'd might drive down there. The wait will continue for potential buyers like me.

My count is now up to 6 in the Cuyahoga County/Summit County area. That doesn't include my truck. I've been the only SuperCab, though.

.... It's like Ford is blindly stumbling around not sure what to build and basically thumbing their noses at those who have preordered and still haven't got their trucks.
THAT is my biggest complaint!!!

Ordered 11/27/18, "my" truck still shows up with an ESTIMATED delivery to the dealer on 6/5/19.

I would have (obviously mistakenly) thought that Ford would have made an attempt to deliver those vehicles to committed buyers first. FORD, are you listening? I'm not a happy camper!!!

Equally frustrating in my mind.... why have I not been able to determine why it's so late? Perhaps a little explanation and openness might go a long way towards minimizing frustration?

I am enjoying my Ranger so far, 900 miles today, but I definitely have the feeling that we are the red-headed stepchild in the Ford America family. Not in terms of technology, engineering, or assembly, but like, why couldn't I get Medium Stone (tan) carpets and dash with the tan interior? Why no HD or other high-end options? How hard could that have been?

(Buy an F150 instead, they said...)

I'm guessing some of the limitations were to limit the number of possible combinations for the new assembly line - they wanted to make sure it is solid before introducing more variability. That is my guess. I'm guessing 2020 will bring some more options or at least more choices for different options that what it has for 2019.

Ford can only make 300?? a day and that is a lot of car carrier trucks that can only carry a handful. I think the second quarter sales will be off the charts. I don't understand waiting six months for a truck that has already depreciated half a year!! In Ford's defense, they're incentivizing the trucks so those who waited should get a much better deal than (I did) if they bought off the lots in January.

You keep talking about depreciation. I don't understand why--it's a truck not an investment. People have explained many times that getting the truck they want to keep for a decade is worth waiting a couple of months rather than compromising for what's on the lot. If you still don't understand it...o_O

Most manufacturers have discontinued light colored dash materials due to reflections in the windshield.

One of the most common reasons people buy the Tacoma is RESALE.

Not all of us keep vehicles for 10 years,
I'm good for about three or four so Depreciation rate is useful for me. I want to know to expect a particular value.

Especially important for those who lease. Fords residual is 62% vs Tacoma at 67%, Those numbers are important for many people even if not for your situation

I can't see special ordering and waiting 3,4,5 months for what will be a common vehicle with the same option pkgs available in most cases. Also paying more but that's me..

Maybe it'll be common someday, maybe it won't. (Probably not given what I wanted.) But regardless, I wanted to enjoy it this summer, not sometime in the future when it might be coming available.
