Safelite guy was just here.
Because the chip is "in my field of vision" they recommend replacing the windshield.
They have an OEM "Ranger" windshield in stock and will be here tomorrow morning to replace the windshield.
I have the glass rider on my Traveler's policy, so there's no deductible for me.
This is one of the reasons I always call Safelite. No hassle, no fuss, just good service.

Ford agreed it was stress cracks and is replacing under warranty.. woohoo ?
I learned a good lesson with this. You may not remember or realize something hit the windshield causing it crack. Easy way to figure it out is to run a ballpoint pen on the crack.. it will drop into any fissure caused by the chip and you will feel it. They also did a light test shining a light thru the crack and recording it on the other side. No chip so I’m happy about this chip shortage..

I hope this helps some save time and anguish of being denied a warranty repair. Here in California they are not allowed to sell windshield insurance, have to pay the deductible for repair.

Noticed a small chip/crack on mine the other day. Insurance arranged for Safelite to do a chip repair. When the tech started working on it, the windshield cracked all the way to the top. So now I have to get it replaced. I asked about getting Ford OEM glass, and they suggested my insurance might not pay for it. But they felt bad for me and told the insurance that an aftermarket wasn't available, so they got the OEM approved. Will be replaced Monday. Luckily there's no deductible on glass coverage.

Took my truck in today to replace the windshield. Got about 2 miles down the road from Safelite, and noticed the new windshield had cracked. Took it back to SafeLite, the manager said it was a 'stress crack', and will replace it (again) next Thursday. :(

Finally getting my windshield replaced today under warranty. I’ve waiting since January 28. I made many calls to service advisor with it should be in soon answer.
I finally went in and talked with the service manager 2 weeks ago. He said the service advisor is no longer there because of issues.

He ordered the windshield and now it’s getting installed today.

I wonder what said issues could be? ??

Anyways by that time I could have had my insurance cover a few windshields to say the least.

Yeah in California you can’t insure windshield, pay deductible. I let ride because it was truly a stress crack… warranty..

Progressive has glass insurance - Colorado at least - but you have to specifically ask for it. $100.00 deductible, but better than paying for it out of pocket. Adds like $1.00 a month.
