Unexpected "trade-in" Ford Ranger Tremor Lariat

I've had my Ranger Lariat Tremor a little less than a year. When I bought it the color black was the only available color at launch. Not a fan of black (especially in Texas heat). It's hard to keep clean, minor scratches from even hand washing show up, even with a ceramic coat. Drove into the dealership just to look around at the new full-sized Broncos. While Iooking manager remembers me from prior, asked how my truck was. I said, "love it, if I ever had any complaint is the color, wish I had another color option when I bought it." He says, "lets put you in a color you want then."

Long story short I have the exact same Tremor ordered, copied it from the sticker, identical to what I have except color and it will be a 2022 instead of 2021. I actually made money on the truck, $O down, lower financing rate, and lower payment. Expected deliver is minimum 3 weeks, 10 weeks max. (crossing fingers).

I feel like I bought a sweater, wore it for a year, and returned it because I didn't like the color. Used cars are in incredible demand right now.

Nice! Can't beat making money off a vehicle you bought new! Better start pulling the little things off your 2021 now so you have them to put on the 2022 when it comes in!

It's being built, but I did not get any outside options (i.e. spray bedliner, towing, etc) so it'll ship as soon as it comes off line. They said they've had about a 7 week turnaround.

Agreed, I'm definately not going to hold my breath. I know the manager and he was pretty confident I didn't have anything to worry it being longer. BUT again.. I'm expecting longer of course. Especially if the country continues to rot from the inside out. But it'll happen eventually.

See if the dealer will throw in the hood struts - of all the little stuff they peeled off the 2021 models, that is the one that would bug me most not to have.

Probably about $30 dealer cost - I'll bet they would throw them in.

I'm gonna do it... I bet they would. When I bought the Ranger the first time, there was a MAJOR f'ck up with a repair issue, and the general manager got involved. I bet he'll give it a thumbs up if asked. Thanks.

There's a thread with a list but the hood struts are what stuck out to me that would really nag at my brain lol. Everyone has their little things but those would bug me.

I got the cactus grey color. I’ve always liked it and wanted to begin with. I think that gray color will look great with the red Tremor emblem and the red inserts on the grill.

There are people on here who ordered in January that haven’t been scheduled yet. Next week Ford is scheduling for May builds.

Fun to have a new truck. Did you make money on this one? If you finance, you just added a year to the loan. What you owe vs what they gave you is one thing. What you pod over the year of ownership is another. I sound like a downer though. Obviously the financing worked for you and you are into a newer model AND the colour you want. Time to rack up the miles on the trade-in.
