I just put money down for the new 2023 Ranger Raptor, I know there will be a wait. I do have some engineering updates, please listen FORD. #1 All that I have seen shows no power rear window, it is a slap in the face of Ranger owners that the Maverick has both powered sliding rear window and a heated steering wheel. That leads into #2 heated steering wheel, for a person not into wearing gloves while driving, I'm not that cool, I am just a simple person, why no heated steering wheel??? #3 For me the pictures I have seen the Ranger Raptor has no rear bed step. Every other maker has figured this out, Come on, lets get it done. #4 Rear under seat storage, there is enough room for two peanut butter jelly sandwiches and a small container of milk, what are you, Ford, hiding under there. If there is not going to be any room behind the rear seat, enlarge the tub area under the rear seat.
Now let me end by saying I love my ranger, the seats are comfortable, driven a couple 800 mile trips in one day and the seats weren't the reason I was tired. Some complain about the ride, It's a pick up get over it or buy a Lexus. I know there are different opinions but here are a few of mine.

How on earth did you "put money down" on a vehicle that hasn't even been officially released?

The Ranger Raptor won't be available in the US until 2024 at the earliest. Slow your roll.

Also, Ford doesn't read this site. You're yelling at the clouds dude.

I agree with all 4, but especially #2. The lack of a heated steering wheel, combined with the terrible heat flow to the foot well, makes heating my feet, hands and defrosting my windshield, almost impossible. I have this complaint every winter day I drive my truck.

The heated steering wheel will only be available on models that come with an OEM tailgate damper.

Geez! If you want all of that, why don't you move up to a full-blown, F150 Limited? About the only option is the exterior color. Pay the dealer about $1,000 more, and you get the performance package.

If you're not getting good flow to the floor you have the issue others have reported that can be fixed under warranty.

Hi Craig,

There is little if any Engineering needed...this is just what Ford Marketing inputs to the product. This stuff is already on the drawing board and in production, so do not imply there is engineering needed...It is already in the books...just need to be applied to a particular product.

Best,
Phil

If 22 models are any indication, I wouldn't hold your breath on Ford being too generous...hope 2023 gets these 2019 items...
  1. rear folding headrest
  2. glove box damper
  3. PRNDS light
  4. console organizer
  5. hood damper
  6. keyed tailgate
  7. engine cover

That's really not a fair statement. When I bought my Ranger, I was debating between an Explorer, a Ranger, and an F150. Pros for the Explorer was that it was the right size, and had all of the features I wanted. Pros for the F150 was that it was a truck and had all of the features I wanted. Pros for the Ranger was that it was the right size and a truck. The vehicle platform won out over the features. I got a fully loaded 2019 Lariat, which stickered at 46k if my memory serves me correctly. I would have gladly paid another 1500 for a pano sunroof, another 300 for a power sliding rear window (especially if it was large enough to be useful), another 1000 for cooled memory seats, another 500 for power pedals, another 300 for heated steering wheel... you get the point. I would have easily plopped 50k+ on the Ranger to get it fully loaded like every other product in the Ford lineup can be. I honestly don't think there's a single Ford vehicle now sold in the US that doesn't have a heated steering wheel or sunroof option.

Asking that the next gen Ranger falls in line with the rest of the Ford USA portfolio is not unreasonable. Telling someone else to buy a different vehicle to get that option kind of is. All of that said... I expect the reason that the Ranger doesn't match the rest of the Ford USA line up is because it's not designed here. And the next gen is also not designed here, so I expect it to have the same lack of features.

How about asking for a tranny dipstick ? That way we could check the damn thing when it shifts bad ... It would have to be located in the cab though , right next to the gear selector... Make it a 110 volt dipstick that pluhs in to the outlet , that way the auto start is disengage... 2 birds , 1 stone... Ford engineering ... Like to have sat in on some of those meetings ... " our customers are to dumb to check their own fluid and we can save money ! Brilliant !"

1) The current gen (5g) Ranger is an old design converted from the global version. The rest of the world doesn't care about the same things we do (whether that says more about them or us I don't know), so that's why the current Ranger doesn't have all of the fancy features.

2) The next gen (6g) Ranger everyone here is talking and complaining about and seeing (and apparently putting money down on) is only the world version of the Ranger. The US/Can version has yet to be revealed and doesn't exist yet. We don't know what our version of the Ranger will be like yet, maybe it will have all those features you guys want. And that's likely why it's taking longer for us to get it than the rest of the world. You guys want more things and fancy features, well it'll take longer to incorporate those on top of the base features everyone else wants.
