For those of you running the ford performance tune/module, where do you have the display mounted? Did your installer route the wire for your and make it all tidy? I am hoping to run mine in the far left corner of the dash and use the suction cup on the lower part of the windshield. I am big on OEM+ look, so I don't want any wires going anywhere.

Looking for some inspiration pics :)

Thanks!

I know its not really helpful, but I put it back in the box for storage.

If you wanted to mount it on the left lower windshield, the cable routing wouldn't be hard though.
This is my thought too, I don't see it being too difficult. I see a lot of threads of people reporting that the dealer is quoting them $300-$500 to install the tune, so I am wondering if that cable routing and mounting is included, and where it might have been mounted.

I like to see all the nerdy details of boost psi, IATs, coolant temp, etc when driving, so I would like to have it mounted and easily visible. Worst case scenario I will just do it myself. I am pretty mechanically inclined, but want to make sure the truck is flashed and the tune installed at a dealer as to not void any warranty I have; I can do some cable management on my own.

The cost is because Ford dealers are a ripoff. That cost is all about flashing the tune itself. My local dealer said they charge $225 just to hook up to the truck. Absolute crap.

Yikes, that is terrible. So the actual module itself is just a scanning tool with a pre-loaded flash. Once "installed" aka flashed, it seems like most people unplug the OBDII cable and store it away. I could just run the cable and everything on my own and mount it.

Appreciate the insight!

The directions are really easy to follow and the process is stupid easy. You'd only need Ford to do it to keep the warranty.

That being said, I called Ford Performance and asked them if it would be acceptable to have an ASE certified mechanic at a DIY shop watch me do the installation and they said yes. I would confirm yourself, but that cost me $26 and kept my warranty in tact.

I find that trying to monitor vitals with the ProCal4 device is problematic at best. The descriptions of the parameters are not clear and are not easily read while driving.

If you are looking to monitor vitals I would recommend picking up a cheap Bluetooth dongle off Amazon for $20 and use an app like TorquePro. No cable to deal with and you can configure gauges that are easily read.

Ahh, so you cant pre-select what you want to see on a home screen and have it show up as gauges?

Yes, different style gauges, and whatever the vehicle monitors is available. Pretty neat app. Just opened mine and this is what was showing. I'm not in my vehicle.

Why do you want to mount the module? Unplug it and put it away in the box....when mounted it's a perfect smash and grab item.... ;)

You don't need it once the tune is loaded in your ECU....if it's for the gauges you can get a much better setup by other means.....

Yeah this is becoming apparent. I thought the interface on the ProCal4 was much better, but the feedback I have received is that it essentially sucks.

I originally wanted to mount it to have data available without using my phone.

My dealer mounted it on the lower left windshield with the provided suction cup. The wires tuck easily between the dash and pillar then down to the OBD. I am going to pull mine off and put it back in the box. I never look at it. I think you will be pretty disappointed in what data you think it will give you and how it displays, It does not display like an Edge programmer. It is a text only display and very limited what it shows. Mostly data for custom tuning or diagnostics. But...On the positive side, You can tell its working...?

Be careful, I believe if it is not installed by a "certified Ford" tech, it will void your warranty.

I plan on having my tune installed by a Ford Dealer or ASE certified mechanic. I will just run the cable myself if I decide to go this route.

But, I don't think I will route the cable and use the ProCal4 since the display/interface for the on-road data stinks.
