I figured we could start a Q and A on all car audio topics. I know there are several people on here with Car Audio expertise. I myself spent 10 years installing/fabricating and have my experiences to share. I consider myself a small time guy in the industry but built competition cars and a CES car.

Ok I have 2019 xlt with 8 inch non b&o system. I recently replaced door speakers, added a inline active converter, and used a harness adapter from Amazon so I wouldn’t have to cut Orem wiring. Now Siri and voice assistant can hear me but I can’t hear them. They respond to my commands and appear to answer but I can’t hear them. What u think?

Let make sure I understand. The new speakers came with a active crossover? So it goes between the original speaker connector and the new speakers?

Is the adaptor harness just from the oem speaker to your new speakers?

I think so since no mention of amplifiers. When I did my stereo i ran all new wires to the doors from my amp. That cut out the sounds that were coming from the bumper sensors since its tapped in somewhere on the factory wires.

Look where your adaptor harness is plugged into the oem wires. Your oem side most likely has a couple of wires that the adaptor side does not. My guess anyway.

I'd be interested in a small amp since I swapped out the front door speakers an have some I can throw in the back laying around. I found this https://plugnplaykits.com/products/...1&_sid=7c1ad0fc3&_ss=r&variant=40866538553534

but $360 for the adapter wiring is way more than I'm willing to spend. I have a massive audio 4x100 amp I got but can't fit it in my Harley I could use but I'm afraid it's physically too big to fit behind factory radio.

Wow thats a pretty cleaver kit. I have the same audio control L7i. Mine is under the passenger feet carpet. Those cables look long so that you could either put it in the storage compartment under the seat or behind the seat like most have. Even I who has the knowhow to do it on my own is tempted by the simplicity of it. I don't think thats an outrageous price.

Thanks for the info. I have a few mods like this amp on the back burner. I looked at a house today an if I pull that trigger Mods will slow way down. Which will be disappointing since one feature of the place I looked at is an oversized 2 car garage for tinkering space. I have a condo with a one car garage an my Harley an tools take up the space. It's cheap an convenient living but not work on cars and bikes friendly.

i replaced front door lower 6.5 woofer with a JL audio Component with the tweeter getting its signal from the woofer. The cross over is between woofer and tweeter.

I also installed a line output converter to amplifier. The converter gets its signal from front speaker wires left and right and then amp output goes to front woofer in lower doors and off that woofer juice goes to crossover then to tweeter. I run new speaker cable from amp

Ok signal goes from radio to output converter then to amp then to speakers. I ran front speaker output from radio to the converter.

No harness is from radio to factory radio connector

I did add amp. Did you have any problems like I am? I’m concerned that running new wire from front door woofer to tweeter may have caused this. I can’t remember if Siri played on all speakers or just front tweeter
