FYI, I did this today with Flood while it was on my mind and I was able to apply my 42000 Ford pass points to the purchase, knocking $210 off the total. From a service perspective, Flood has already provided my confirmation.

I owe $14,500 on my Ranger. I’m thinking about Refinancing it and get a small loan on the truck added to the existing loan to pay for a warranty.

would that be a bad idea?

I just compared Flood and Zeigler and Flood was lower.

However, the 6 yr/75k plan with $200 deductible is $795 for me.

Is yours 2WD?

The only reason I'm considering one of these is because of the HVAC issues popping up.

My miles are so low that I'm sure my 3yrs will be up before anything manifests.
Yes I only have a 2wd and I changed my plan before it was processed due to the low miles I accumulate. So Im now at 7yrs/48k with a $100 deductible for $650, and I also added the instant rental for $10 additional. Also used 4000 remaining Ford pass points for $20 off. So in total out the door I paid $650.

I'm heard Flood mentioned around several times already. Is there any reason people are going through them? If I buy Ford's extended warranty from dealer "X" am I still able to have it serviced at dealer "Y"?

The warranty contract is good at any Ford dealer. Just as if you bought it from the dealer you purchased your vehicle from.

Flood is a legit Ford dealer, and seem to be the least expensive for the warranty plans. Yes, you can buy on line from them and yes, the warranty is/better be honored at any Ford repair facility.
Bought my plan from them...they were less than half of the price quoted me by my dealer.
Dealer wanted almost $2500 for Premium Plan, 8 year, 100,000 thousand mile/$100 deductible.
Flood...same plan was $1195.
As I posted earlier, Flood rep told me they make around $50 bucks on a plan, but make it up by selling a lot. Apparently dealers selling at higher $$$ are pocketing quite a bit.

Specific to me, USAA won’t insure your house in FL unless you are on active duty orders. my son got in an accident and though I had rental car option on they would not provide one because of “availability”. They also totalled the vehicle and it only had 5k damage. Would not consider other estimates because I took it to their approved repair place first. Comps were completely wrong….just a bad experience, and I have been with them for more than 30 years. my 2 cents.

Also, they farm out to subs a lot of what they used to do in-house, spec. Mortgages and comps for vehicles as well as salvage titles. Dealt with a lot of admin issues with both sides pointing at each other in the process.

another example would be their car buying service. It used to be in the 90s you could call with the VIN and dealer info. They worked the deal for you and you could take it or leave it. Now you get referred to dealers and the dealers won’t leave you alone. Quit using it 20 years ago. Of course, now I sound like a cranky old guy. I need to go grab a beer.
I too have been a USSA customer for over 30 years and recently had a bad experience with USAA where the sub provided fraudulent comps for my vehicle that was totaled in a hail storm. The sub was using comps for a basic model vehicle and not the limited edition vehicle that was insured. I'm still a USSA customer but the incident left me with a distrust of the subs and questioning the competency of some of the agents. I too sound like a cranky old fart and will go grab a beer.

For 8 yr and 100k miles that is an amazing deal. I would even pay $2k for that cause I will likely eventually use it.

I would avoid it if possible.
Have you checked to see which plan you need? There are some very reasonable prices. Mine was kind of high, but it’s what I needed. Your needs will probably be different.

Steve, do you know if you sell before the warranty is up do they pro rate it and give you the difference back? I thought I read that somewhere before they did. I'm looking at the 6 yr/60K for $695. I doubt I'd keep it that long but who knows with these crazy prices now. Plus that would be right when the 6th Gen is going into it's second year which I'd take a look at.

Prices depend on Model year, mileage, which plan selected, and which deductible selected. There is a wide range of prices depending on what you need and want.

Rep said they do pro-rate it, or, if I sell to a private party it can be transferred to the new owner for a fee...don't recall how much, but not a lot.
I did talk to the rep via phone befor buying to get the stright scoop on why prices were so different.
I was satisficed, and did the on-line purchase. Entire plan and contract was downloaded, and I have it in a separate file...can print it if needed
Was told I did not need a card/paperwork, anything...it's all listed in their database by vin #.

They're both reputable dealers and the prices at Flood are better than Zeiglar. Although Zeiglar has a code (payinfull) which drops it down the the same price as Flood.
