Great thing about that is it's 100% covered under warranty. Still pretty infuriating though! Hopefully it's an easy fix and in and out of the shop!

Yeah I know they'll fix it, but it's just a new record for me having an issue. I suppose having an issue on a new vehicle right away has happened to others many times, but it still stinks.

I have no idea. Ford Pass just says it's an "The Engine system has detected a fault" of some sort. I have no way to read codes so if it stays on I'll just take it to the dealer. I guess that's what warranty is for, but having a light coming on with only a few hundred miles stinks.

Come on... Already?!?!?

I experience the same with my 2019 Ranger XLT. In my case the check engine came on at 342 miles.
The dealer checked, couldn't get it to show a problem on their test. The code in my case they said was an "injector error".
Few hundred miles later and it came on again, took it back to the dealer and it's the same code.

They've had it a few days now, not sure what the fix is yet but we'll see. Good luck with yours!

Well I hope I have better luck then you and didn't end up with a lemon fresh from the factory. It's not going out so something is messed up. It runs just fine so it's probably not a huge deal, but I don't want to be driving around with that engine light on all the time.

Hard codes don't self erase, you could just check it, then erase it to see if it comes back before a dealer visit, if you don't want to go there.
My guess is that you can simply stop by without an appointment and the dealer will solve your problem in just a few minutes.:fingerscrossed:

In case it helps you as you progress into yours. I got a call back today from my local dealer that is servicing the vehicle. After working with Ford (corp) they said that it was either the Engine Control Module or the #4 fuel injector. Ford (corp) wants the local dealer to start with replacing the ECM. Still waiting as they have to order it.

I'm sitting in the waiting room of the dealership right now and they are checking it out. Hopefully I'll have an idea soon what's going on with it.

Mine was throwing an error on the #1 fuel injector, but then while they were working on diagnosing it the vehicle itself corrected the error and shut off the Check Engine light. He is going to leave the ticket open for a couple weeks before he submits the warranty claim in case it comes back on and they have to tear into it.

hope it holds... If like mine, it won't take long for it to pop back up. >200 miles within 3 days. Good luck to you!

It sounds like you and I possibly could have the same issue only difference is you've got a problem with #4 and I've got one with #1. Anyhow if it comes back on I'll let you know. Please keep us updated on yours when they get it fixed. Good luck!

I also got a CEL on my new Ranger the same day I picked it up at around 90 miles on the odometer. It came on only right after I started the truck to take the GF for a spin after bringing it home. I brought the truck in the next morning to have it diagnosed; #4 injector fault was the code although the issue was not present at that time. They cleared it and could not reproduce it. I offered to take the truck and see if it came back and it did... the next afternoon. Again, the CEL only came on after immediately after starting the truck, this time after I had driven it off and on all morning and stopped for a quick lunch. Not being able to make it to the the dealer, I used ForScan to read the code that evening when I got home from the jobsite: This time it was the #3 injector fault which wasn't still present. I logged the error and cleared it myself. I drove the truck again the next day for a few hours without an issue and it was finally time for my first fuel fill-up since I was down to about a quarter tank (Fueled up with 87 Octane). Since gassing up the Ranger, I haven't had a CEL at all and have put several hundred miles. Dealer was supposed to take the truck in on Wednesday, but I suggested we hold off to see if the CEL comes back at all since it's never been a persistent code and the truck runs great. They agreed that they didn't want to tear into my new truck unless they had to, in case the issue was just caused by bad fuel; With the rapidly changing and warming weather up here in northern Maine, condensation is a major problem. The dealer has an above-ground fuel tank which they gas up their cars... It's quite possible that they could have water in their fuel and the Ranger seems to be quite sensitive to this condition.

My check engine light came on at 420 miles. I have had the low mileage shudder which felt like a clogged injector or dirty fuel filter. I have an appointment in the morning with a dealership. Bummed, but not totally upset at this point.
