Have 83k on my truck and the premium protection package. Paid 248 today for them to tell me its not covered and considered a wear item. I am pissed. Did not drop liquids or anything on them. First world problems i know. But those heated seats actually help my back. wondering how many have had theirs quit.

$248 just to tell you what the problem is is totally unacceptable. Some idiot didn't know what he was doing and took several hours looks like 2 1/2 hours almost to figure out what your problem is. That's just so wrong!
If that heat means that much to you, I believe there are 12V heating pad options out there and perhaps one that will plug into that 110V outlet on the back of the center console? Not sure though but it could be a temporary fix?
On a sidenote, I remember after four winters in my 2004 F150, I looked up underneath the seating and noticed the foam was dry rotting and falling apart because I used that heat daily in the winter time. That's coming from a Florida boy working up north in the winter time. I was the one that looked like Ralph's little brother Randy all bundled up in Christmas story. Luckily I never fell down and couldn't get back up because of too many clothes on. I learned real quick what layered clothing was.

Well, i get the wear thing, but it should not happen this quickly in my opinion. The 248 was for 2 hours of labor at this dealership. They wan over 800 for the repair if the parts ever become available. Ordered and aftermarket for 50 bucks. Just hate when they dont back their product.

my dealer quoted me 400 bucks to install heat in both front seats when i bought the truck, and then said to hell with it and through them in the deal for zip

I had my dealer install them for $500 on my STX. I think there is a 2/24 warranty from the seat heater company. I was contemplating just ordering a kit on Amazon for $60-$90 and installing them myself, but I was concerned about compromising the occupant sensors for the airbags. Now I understand that the heaters won't affect the sensors, so if they eventually burn out, I may install new ones myself

Update....I called premium care. The dealer listed a part number (the actual seat cushion) as an uncovered part. according to the premium care folks, the heating element is covered. Called the dealer back, he gave me a somewhat reasonable explanation as to why he used the seat cushion part number, but agreed to put it through as a heating element defect to get it covered....we will see if they follow up, but i will not let down. I think the repair is just such a pain in the ass and they dont get paid enough to bother so they took my 250 and blew me off. that's how i see it at least.
