Geico glass coverage is $9 per vehicle on their 6 month policy. So less than $20 a year.
I've replaced 4 windshields in the past 7 or 8 years.....not sure of the cost of each one but I know the windshield for my wife's Mini was over $800. I'm guessing the one I replaced on my F-150 was close to that as well.
Thanks

Maybe I misinterpreted and was $9/period and not per month. Checking now.

I think it's way more than $800, as it's now a 2 hour job and requires calibration of the camera

Ford does not recommend using any kind of aftermarket glass on ADAS equipped vehicles. Here's a link to the position statement. This link should be all Safelite or any other glass company needs in order to fit your vehicle with OE glass. Do not allow them to use aftermarket.

Safelite does not (did not in my case) pressure you to choose an aftermarket glass. OEM was a choice given to me immediately and I took it. There was no argument at all.

You might check with a second shop and different company altogether, just to be sure. I realize supply lines everywhere are a mess and will likely remain so until 2022, but I've also had that line fed to me in years past because a company - or technician - made far less profit on OEM.

If it's a Carlite go for it.

Carlex makes the Ford OEM Glass and the Carlite aftermarket glass.

Ford hasn't made their own glass for over a decade.
