Today I got a nail in my tire so I went to discount tire to have it patched. When they went to remove the tire they were unable to remove the locking lug nuts provided by the dealer because the key that they included to remove them did not fit. I'm sure this is a one off situation but it may be a good idea to just test the lug nut key out before you get stuck on the road.

P.S. Discount Tire was great as expect. I purchased the road hazard warranty while I was there .

Do what the guys that steal rims and tires do. Slap a pair of vice grips on and loosen them right up!
They removed them some how and it was only $20 to buy new ones through Discount.. compared to the $130 they slapped me with when i bought them through the dealership. I'm working on getting the $130 refunded to me since my truck is less than a month old and its their mess up.

They have a conical impact driver that they tap on with a hammer. It will grip the locking lug well enough to get it off.

Discount Tire has always done right by me. For example, I recently took the truck in to get the tires rotated/balanced and to check a possible nail in the tire. Come to find out that the last Discount I took it to on the other side of town neglected to give me the wheel key back. No issue at all. I figured I'd have to pay for another lock set, but they replaced the crappy dealer locks with Gorilla locks free of charge.

Discount Tire is just on an entirely different level than any other tire shop I have been. Taking it in to other places has always been a chore filled with stress. DT is stress free. Great culture there.

Had mine removed at last service and replaced with regular lugnuts.
X 2. Unless rim thefts are still a thing, I made sure these were not quietly added to my final bill of sale. Usually at $100 extra for me only to replace them makes no sense.
