Anyone sleep in their truck bed with a topper?

Not in the Ranger (yet) but I had a short bed early Tundra that I had a sheet of plywood with hinges for a section at the tailgate. When camping, I'd put the tailgate down, fold out the plywood, and set up a two person tent. Work perfect

My dream is being able to basically close my tailgate and camper shell with no one knowing I'm there.

It's a Teton somnia cot. I did cut an inch off of it to make it fit.

I'm 5'11'. I can stretch out straight, but my head is uncomfortably pressed against the tailgate. Luckily I sleep on my side, somewhat curled up, so it's not really an issue. My wife is much shorter and has plenty of room. Most importantly, we can sit fully upright on our sleeping pads and even sit in the truckbed to cook and eat when rain or mosquitos become a problem.

One lesson I learned is that topper/truckbed combinations are never rain proof, but can be made so with a lot of butyl tape (which is not really tape) and by adding weather stripping to the tailgate.

Our retractable slat floor system keeps us up out of the "bilge" which often is wet from carrying around our wet kayak gear.

Man, that supercab's 6 foot bed makes me kinda yearn for a supercab. But I have a family.

So much room back there! I love it. Of course a super crew with a 6 foot bed... how do I park that thing. Hahah just can't have it all.

Just got the truck and probably won't get a topper but I'd be too tall anyway even for a Supercab bed. We have a $69 6-person tent from Walmart that sleeps 2 comfortably and everything else we need for camping. Guy in South America has a sweet build but down there you can get a regular cab long bed.
