My CZ P-09 is probably the best shooting polymer gun I have owned. The AAC EVO-9 was also the first suppressor I ever owned;

Jericho 941-FS still takes cake as the smoothest shooting out the box combat gun ever though.

I have always enjoyed shooting .380 except for the $. I wanted a larger frame pistol and since I kinda dance to a different drummer, I ended up buying a Grand Power CP380 built in Slovakia. Shoots well, very accurate and seems to shoot any ammo you stick in it. They are common in Europe and even make a full auto 9mm pistol and an anti aircraft machine gun among other military weapons.

Trying to find a Glock 17 MOS blue label in stock local I might as well be searching for a unicorn. Our local blue label dealer has zero stock on anything.

I'm about to be going through a level 1-4 + optics transition class to start laying the ground work for our department to construct policy on how and by what metrics to allow officers to carry these. The first class begins next month and the rest through end of the year. Been a long road of argument to get them to at least open the door to the possibility.

Ugh. I guess I can order from another dealer and have it shipped in, but some people like GT Distributors are slow as dirt. Directly from Glock can take up to 180 days.

I'm probably going to go with a Leupold Deltapoint Pro. I have already been using the new Aliengear Rapid Force duty holster for 6 months and the Chief seems to really like it.

Let me know if you need any help on this front. We've been carrying optic ready Glocks for roughly 3 or 4 years. We phased it in slow as we tested the water; Training Division first, then SWAT, then K9, and the rest of SpecOps is slowly filtering in. We've also just approved (through policy) for the rest of the agency to carry Glock 17, 34, and 45 MOS if they supply the gun, RMR 06, and Safariland duty holster on their own dime. They also have to attend our 8 hour carry optic class. I'm fortunate to be working in the division I work because the sheriff's office provided all of my gear. I'm carrying in a Safariland 6395RDS. It's a great holster but lacks that top strap retention a duty holster should have.

I've been carrying an agency issued Glock 34MOS since we started playing with them all those years back. Damn I love this pistol! Target transition with the RMR is soooooooooo damn fast!!! the only thing that really sucked was back in November of 2018, I was promoted to go back out to uniform patrol as a supervisor January 1, 2019. I learned that the Glock 34 makes sitting in a Dodge Charger on a 12 hour shift REALLY uncomfortable because of the slide length. I was wishing it was a 17MOS!!!!

Do does your patrol level guys have to qualify in any specific manner outside of your 8-hour class for example do does it require still qualifying with the irons and if so a particular percentage score or anything along this line

Ewww guns! OMG I'm threatened by this thread. Take guns all away from law abiding citizens NOW because that will solve crime!!! Forget about addressing mental health, bad parenting, poor social skills in a social media world, and degrading standards of courtesy and awareness toward others... just take away your ability to protect yourself and hunt. DO IT NOW! Or we can't go on as a nation.

So typically, you have to qual with irons and then shoot the qual again with the RMR. Issue is, we have been hurting for ammo so that requirement has been relaxed. We're shooting GSAC both times though. (We used to have our own approved 50 round dynamic pistol course but we've gone back to GSAC to increase training time and decrease qualification time).

I've purchased about a dozen mags from them over the past year and they usually have some of the best prices...at least on Glock OEM mags. They seem to be able to restock pretty quickly too.

I mean, you know, before the boating accident that claimed all my high cap mags.

Some great links and discussion here. It might have been discussed but it’s a huge thread.
I’m thinking about purchasing a couple .40S&W guns in the next year. Never even shot that caliber before. I’ve heard from many people that it was much easier to find during the pandemic. Not sure how true as I just never even looked. But if that’s true - that’s a huge selling point for me. Plus a lot of law enforcement agencies still use that caliber.

Anyone here prefer it over 9mm?

Yea we are thinking the same.

We still use the lame ass GSAC course as well. My Chief demands 100% with rifles on the GSAC course because really it should be a cake walk.

Here is my preliminary thinking as I am going to write the rough draft policy for optics usage;

Irons GSAC Standard minimum (240)

Optics GSAC Standard minimum (280)

Glock 17 MOS and Optic provided by officer; RMR Type 2 (any dot, but 3.5 dot preferred) or
Leupold Deltapoint Pro (dot only, no triangle). Still debating if Holosun is up to the job. Level 3 holster must be provided by officer; Safariland Models or Aliengear RF. I would allow the new Blackhawk T-Series, but I don't think they made an RDS compatible one.

The above to begin carrying. The below to continue to have that privilege.

Officer Must Complete Level 1-4 at GSPTC within 2 years or less (manpower and budget will determine this). I would prefer all levels done in within one year, but that would be a manpower nightmare at a smaller department we'd have multiple people gone every available class.

Officer Must Complete Transition to Optics (new for 2021) at GSPTC within 6 months.

You got any other suggestions?

I think you are heading in the proper direction. The only thing I think you have left to consider is what an officer might carry off-duty or back-up. Are you going to require them to do anything special if they start rocking a 43X MOS off duty? I REALLY like you upping the standard for RDS!!! I'm not sure about the holosun yet. I have one on an off-duty gun but I still haven't run enough rounds with it to be carrying it.

We don't require qualifications for off-duty weapons.

IMO it is not my job's place to tell me I can't carry a DEagle 50 when Im not on the clock. :eek:

I did qualify with an IWI Masada + Optic & my Jericho 941FS for shits and giggles.

How do you work around the HR 218 LEOSA stuff without a qual? I tell you what, I'm running up home to NJ here in a couple of weeks and I will be carrying and there wont be anything they can do about it! HAHAHA
