Just a heads up I bought a Leer Tonneau for the ranger, it was 250 shipped from leer so it was very reasonably priced. That being said, I would avoid buying this top or anything from Leer if you want a company that answer's emails or addresses problems. Bottom line is the bulk head seal is too short and allows quite a bit of water into the bed. I have emailed them several times and they never respond so you know you a sh*t out of luck if you need warranty work. That being said I have a Extang tonneau on the one ton and that company answers right up and sends out replacement parts fast. This was on me for trying to save some money but I thought I would just pass on the info. Yes I can correct the issue with more foam around the bulk head but the hey the company should acknowledge an issue with something they are selling.

I can't speak to Leer David, but you are correct about Extang. Their customer service is above, and beyond. I hope you can get Leer on the line. I know how aggravating that can be.

I had a similar issue with the bulkhead seal for a TruXedo tonneau cover I purchased. Found out I installed the seal backwards. It was hard to tell from the installation guide (poorly printed paper version). When I looked at the online installation instructions, the picture was much better and I could see my mistake. There was a little "lip" that was supposed to be rear-facing and the weather-stripping was supposed to be flush with the back edge of the bulkhead. I ordered a new piece of weather-stripping (free) and reinstalled it and it worked fine. Originally I had the same issue where water leaked through.

I have the leer cover, no leaks. Did you put the bulk head weather stripping on correctly?

Fact of life: All tonneau covers leak, or seep, or aren't dust tight! Even the one-piece ones which fold over the edges of the bed, suffer the same fate. I guess if you want a tight seal, buy an SUV.

For what it is worth I have had Leer Camper Shells (Topper, Caps for the east coast folks.. lol) for 15 plus years, never had an issue that necessitated a call to them, I prefer this brand. Hopefully you can figure out the leak which sounds like a seal issue rather than quality of the cover itself. Good luck, hope it gets fixed.

I have a Extang which will allow the smallest amount of water during the heaviest of storms. The leer basically soaks the bed in the rain even if you are not moving. Bottom line is they Fked up the bulk head seal length and don't respond to emails and don't pick up the phone because of covid 19. Minor water wouldn't be an issue this is not a minor water issue, bed looks like kids were playing in an over filled bath tub every time it rains.

Yes fixable already bought a longer bulk head seal point is they warranty the top and all the hardware how is the warranty going to work if you don't answer e-mails or answer the phone??? Funny how fast they were to say thanks when they took the money for the purchase though.

Its user error most likely, no leaks at all on mine, the only thing I did add was some weatherstripping towards the front where the ranger flairs down, because the covers are rigid and cant mold to that curve.

I wont argue their costumer service isnt the best, but we did buy a cheap cover, so they have to cut costs somewhere in the shop.

To help you with it, the weather stripping is directional, and you have a weather flap on the cover itself as a backup, if that much water gets in, you installed it incorrectly regardless of the weather stripping being incorrect length, hell i ran mine without the weather stripping for 2 months, and barely any water got in, i only installed it when i needed to put luggage for a cross country trip in it.

The cover does need to sit all the way forward, and the strip a trick is to attach it closer to the inside of the cover. also if this is going to be a permenant fixture purchase some
Access Cover Element Seal and attach to the truck for the best seal, its like 15.00$ on amazon.

Weather stripping on the leer SR250 is not directional it is a uniform square foam tape basically 1"x1" some tops do have directional seals on the bulk head the Leer SR 250 is not one of them.

Leer is not a small company by any stretch. This is the result of a company that got to big for its britches and forgot their roots and where they came from. After a while garbage customer service and response times just become part of the money making equation. If they still make substantial money having crap CS then its just "part of business".

This concept is not something that Leer (for example) invented. Think all the one off times you needed to call your cell phone provider or otherwise and had an extended hold time. How about going to your local grocery or market store that has 15 lanes of checkout but 2 cashiers working on a Saturday night.

People just accepted this at some point so now its normilized.

Edit: Another good example; While I actually like self check-out isles think of it like this; You are paying for products from a store and get the honor (sarcasm) of servicing yourself. All of this under the guise of off-setting rising cost.

How about tipping when you eat out? I always tip (dont get wrong idea), but this scam is nothing more than the company getting you to pay labor wages for them.

Ok I am done ranting. I just have a burning hatred for a company quick to sell, but slow to back their product. Those companies could go belly up for all I care.

I really thought the Leer product was a good value (what a cover of this type should cost) and had a good experience with the company as well.

When I removed the the cover from my last F-150 and resold it on Craigslist I contacted them about a new piece of bulkhead foam and they promptly sent it FedEx to the new owner, for free.

Not doubting the OP's issue..... just sharing my experience.

Where are the pics of the installation? You know, the ones you emailed to Leer showing that you installed this seal as per their guidelines.
