I leave mine in the bed all the time. I use it for work as I carry a 6' ladder just about everyday. It also comes in handy when it's flipped inside the bed for corralling stuff so it doesn't fly all over the back.
How easy are they to remove fully? Might try one now, as I've removed my swingboxes due to other interferences. But it would need to come out often and quickly.

From what I've read the after market spray liners are the bomb compared to factory. So you're probably better off what ever you decide.

Great stuff so far! Regarding the bedliners, I passed on the Ford factory spray-in liner because it cost more than the local Rhino liner place (which now sounds like maybe not the place to go), and because of some videos I saw of easily it can be removed. Sounds like my best pro options at this point will either be Rhino or Line-X. There've been a couple of votes for Line-X already--anybody else have strong feelings one way or the other?
I've had 2 RhinoLined trucks and 2 Line-Xed. I prefer the Line-X.

Very easy. When you tilt it upwards there's a space where it unlatches and pulls right out.

I've been really happy with my Line-X. But I have heard that there was some issues with fading unless you get the UV protection if it sits in the sun a lot. Of course if you are getting a cover that should not be an issue.

Here's a picture. When it's almost full up there are notches/openings where it can slide out.

This happens in almost every thread so no big deal. You have not really seen thread hijacking here until you see a thread like "What tires would you recommend?" and then it turns into a six page thread about tailgate dampers. Haha
Who would do such a thing? :lipssealed::bandit:

Does it come out easily though? The majority of the stuff I move around is lumber, so it just looks like it would get in the way. I can see how it's be useful, but it also looks like it could impede you depending on the load type.

I guess I could just let it sit on top of whatever I have loaded mind you.

When did you trade in your Ranger and why does it look like you and your truck were Photoshopped in to the picture. Plus I always thought you were taller than that. :p

@AzScorpion my bad, only read half your comment ?.

Does it bounce around much in the box when it's not rolled out and secured to the tailgate? Or is there a strap to secure it when it's folded in as well?

I think was typing this at the same time you were. ?

I do have a cover on mine but have never heard it bouncing around. There is a strap on each side but it's only to secure it when it's flipped out. They go into the latches on each side of the tailgate which secure it and keep it from bouncing around while extended. Plus when the doors are locked they're locked too so no one can undo it and take off with your bed extender.

Yeah, I bought the AMP sport extender. It's great when you move a 6ft box and have a 5ft bed, or if you move junk Sanford and Son style and need a little extra room.

It has a bracket it just locks in to so you can lift it up and out of the way also.
Thanks for the info! Do you happen to have a link for the model you bought? I'm finding a lot of extenders, but they don't always make it clear whether they'll fit a Ranger or not. I do like the look of the AMPs, though!

I had used my old extender out of my Tacoma. The new ones instal much easier as the bracket just screw into the factory holes. Here's a couple places that have the AMP extenders. You can get either silver or black powder coated.
