Hi All,

As some of you may have heard in other threads, I pulled the trigger yesterday on ordering a 2021 Ranger 4x2 SuperCrew with the 302A package, tech package, rear locker, and tow package. I waited on some other upgrades either to save money or because they're cheaper/better aftermarket. I've spent some time online today organizing my list of items to purchase once the truck arrives this summer, and here's what I've got so far:

-Spray-in bedliner (from the local Z-Tech shop)
-Bed extender
-Running boards
-Locking trailer hitch
-Floor liners
-Storage compartment organizer
-Tailgate damper (I know, I know, but I've got a daughter who I can totally see opening the tailgate and banging herself in forehead.) :)
-Mudflaps

I don't do any offroading, and I'll mostly be using the truck to commute and occasionally haul things home from Lowe's and Menards. So what do you think? Is there anything you've found to be a useful addition that I haven't listed (and that doesn't require serious mechanic skills)? Do you have any brand recommendations on anything I've listed?

I figure I've got at least three months before the truck makes it down here, so maybe this thread can be a useful diversion while I wait. :)

-Chris

I'm really not sold on these things. They look like they could be handy in the right circumstances, but also a hassle for most typical things.

Do they quick release to get them out of the way if you need to remove them for larger, longer items?

Would advise against that crappy Z Tech shop in Terre Haute. Only had terrible experiences there, one rhino lining took 4 applications on my Ram and still looked terrible although it seemed to stick to the bed by that point.

From what I gather from the forums, the damper needs sort of a mod or tweak to the cable won't get pinched. I installed a damper but haven't done the 'mod' yet.

I just bought a bedrug, not arrived. I have the sprayin liner, too. I got weathertech floor liners and mudflaps. Might get a swing storage box for the bed, not sure yet.

Keep us informed.

Added: Oh, I bought a gator soft folding toune cover, how ever you spell it, not arrived yet. I got it mainly for fuel mileage, though thats another debate. I wanted something that I can cover the bed with, but take it off easily in a few minutes, no rails that have to be added, etc.

Well, crud. That's actually where I was planning to go. Any better recommendations?

If you already ordered guess the factory installed sprayed in liner is out. Not sure who else installs liners in Terre Haute but the Z Tech behind Honey Creek Mall is the one I am speaking of and along with the lining needed redone 3 times the did a hack job on a speaker and amplifier install as well on the same truck. Haven't been back to them since. Co-worker also had bad experiences on his Silverado.

Yep, that's the one. I'll shop around and see what other options I can find. If I have to, I can drive over to Indy.

This place cracks me up sometimes.

I've never been part of a vehicular online forum where things like mudflaps and floor liners are considered "mods."
You're not wrong. I tried to go back and change "mods" to "add-ons" after I posted, but it was too late. :)

Laugh it up funny boy :)

Actually, he's a new owner just like me. Just saying what I did. I'm not really into mods, but if that's your thing, you do you.

how ever you spell it,
Just spell it how most people say it. Tunnel cover. ?

I always have to google it before I commit to the word.

Take a look at the occupation on a lot of the users here. You'll notice it's set to retired and you'll get why it's considered a mod ?

I don't know if they are still putting those long antennas on the 2021 Rangers but in the event they do you might consider a CravenSpeed Stubby Jr antenna if you don't like the long one. Just mentioning it since you asked. It was the first thing I did to my Ranger.

Of course I have seen some people here never even knew there was one and it turned out the factory antenna was in the glove box.

Oh and when you get yours check the tire pressure and washer fluid. It seems there have been some issues with pre-delivery inspections. :)

I hope you enjoy your new Ranger! I love mine.
