Same issue, I just got my truck 2 weeks ago & the first rain the bed was wet. I carry my samples & though there would be no issues with water. I’m looking for another seal for the cover. If I find one that works I will post it.

That would be great. Some others have used some household weatherstripping on top of the tailgate. I only have 2500 miles on my truck in 6 months and it’s in the garage most of the time, but when I retire in 2 years we are hitting the road and using the Ranger as our toad so i will need a solution to the gap by then.
Al, you've already subconsciously decided to get one. As you can see in your replies here, your attempt to damper the damper is a double negative and therefore renders a positive.
Think there is a $200 Damper Delete option D601. Of course a corresponding 50 HP loss follows...
