So, I decided to turn on my heated seat yesterday for the first time this season. After a few minutes, I caught a faint whiff of what smelled like burnt electronics but thought nothing of it. The butt warmer worked just fine for the trip. Decided to turn the warmer on again this morning and nothing. The lights on the button stayed on the entire 30 min trip but my butt stayed icy. The passenger seat still warms up just fine. The worst part about this is that I crossed the 36k mile threshold about 600 miles ago so this fix will be out of pocket.

I have an appointment with the dealer next week, but I was wondering if this could be a fix I could do myself? I'm going to check the fuses when I get home, but not sure what else I can look for unless I get some instructions. I'll also look online for some YouTube classes and instructions, but wanted to check with you guys first.

It's under warranty - let the dealer fix/replace.

Unfortunately, I'm at 36,600'ish miles. It's not under warranty.

Hopefully the dealer can give you a quote to repair and you can go from there and maybe being just over the 36,000 they will work something out for you.

Maybe they can, but I'm not counting on it. I imagine it'll be expensive, though. They're charging me the $95 diagnostic fee which will go towards the service cost if I go with them to repair it.

A diagnostic fee is fair to prevent you from getting them to identify your problem for free then go do it yourself or another shop.
But 8n my opinion, it should be absorbed into your repair cost should you do it with them.
It would take only minutes to determine if yours is faulty.
For reference, complete heated seat installs cost a few hundred bucks.
This shouldn't break the bank to repair, even if they have to change the pad
Yup. I totally understand that fee and they already said it'll go towards the repair cost. I'm just a little bummed that I'm that close to 36k miles. But yeah, hopefully it's not too bad or hell, hopefully they can work with me a little.

Another option is buying an ESP before you hit 41 months/41,000 miles. I just bought a 5/75000 Ford Protect Premium Care ESP for $615.00. Granted I only have 4300 miles on my truck and it is only 4 month old.

You purchased this through Ford, correct? I've thought about this. I'll have to call their number because the online quote isn't working for me.

My driver's heated seat didn't work when new, the BCM had an open circuit code for the heating element. Dealer pulled the leather off & replaced the element.

I purchased thru Zeigler Ford online. https://www.zeiglerfordesp.com/. If you pay in full use the code "payinfull" and it knock $250 bucks any plan. I did a 5/75 with a $200 deductible. $615 for me out the door.
