So this weekend my friend was over with her 2019 FX4 ranger and I was looking at her front suspension and noticed no difference between her FX4 and my FX2 other than obviously the transfer case and her front axle a running through the spindle. My spindle appears the same I just have a metal plug where the axle would go through. Has anyone tried putting the 6” lift on a 2WD? Looking at the installation instructions and our trucks I see no reason why it wouldn’t work with me just not using the transfer case parts. I did hear the rear shock lower eyelet is different but that can easily be remedied.

Being a 2wd I wouldn't recommend going that high. I cant speak for the 6 inch kits but so far all the lift kits and leveling kits avalible have worked just fine on the 2wd and 4wd trucks from reading back and fourth. If you really want to lift it I would suggest going with Old Man EMU by ARB. The front is lifted be 2.4 and the rear by 1.6. The street ride is cleaned up a lot and the offroad performance is great!! You get all shocks and new coil and leaf springs. The alignment specs are able to stay put without having to get upper control arms as well. The biggest thing too is you can still keep the truck practical. Here are some pictures of mine. Hope thos helps out.

there’s absolutely no reason not to go that high on a 2wd. It’s the exact same suspension minus the transfer case and axles. Anyway I already did it and it worked perfectly and handled like a dream on the 800 mile trip to Colorado and trail riding for a week through the mountains and back.

Did you have to modify the crash bar to fit what appears to be 305s?

the crash bars were removed to fit the 33X11.50’s. I removed them when I had the 33’s and only a leveling kit.

Understand this, with that lift kit you will need to get different wheels(sucks if you already bought a second set already). Also you dont gain any travel in The rear. The front only gives an extra 2-3 inches at best due to the diff drop in the front. With all that said it really isnt a practical suspension kit.

Also for similar cost you van get a better suspension for your truck if you were to go OffRoad. Its called the Old Man EMU lift. I have taken it though many trails in Colorado and guarantee the Rough Country 6 inch lift would not perform as well on the trails I took it on.

Here are some pictures for reference

I should mention that there was a nasty rock garden that i had to cross right before this picture, I hit a fair amount of those rocks on the frame and the 6 inch lift would do the same. If you think a truck with only a leveling kit will do the same you are wrong. It would hit mire things underneath since the rear isnt lifted what so ever on a leveled truck.

I don’t off road one bit. Why would I need new wheels? I want something higher than my 3” level kit

The reason you would need new Wheels with the Rough Country lift kit is because they give you new knuckles up front. With the new Knuckles it will interfere with the factory wheels

The off set of the factory wheels most likely will not work with the 6” lift kit.

It even states on the website will not work with factory 17 and 18 inch wheels

I have after market 16” wheels with 285’s, will that work?

I still disagree with going to a 6 inch lift. For the rear it is lifted with blocks. Due to that you don't get any added travel for the rear. For the front you only add 2-3 inches at best but yet you lifted 6 inches? The math doesnt add up there. Also you had to do a diff drop and that has two negatives there as well. #1 you only lifted the diff by 2-3 inches at best. #2 the front driveshaft is now put at a hogher angle and will cause accelerated wear. Now for you this wont be an issue since you have a 2wd but the frame area for the diff is still super low.

That's questionable to say the least because Rough Country does not specify the neede offset for the 17 and 18 inch wheels
