Hi everyone! My name is Jim and I live in McKinney, TX, a suburb of Dallas. And officially a 3 time Ranger owner. Yesterday I picked up my 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat FX4 w/ sport package because I didn't want to wait months for an order. I was going to have to put money into my 2004 Ranger anyways to make sure it got me across the finish line. So i figured why not put that money towards a few extras. I'm glad that I did because i love the look of the metallic grill and on my Metallic paint, and see the need for the running boards. Even though I'm 6'.

I was the first customer to buy the new Ranger at my local dealership and the owner ducked out of a national conference call to congratulate me. Was a great experience.

Been following this forum for a while. Wanted to say Hi! And wish you all the best at getting your Trucks fast if you ordered them. Look forward to geeking out with you all on this truck!
Welcome!

Hi, all! I just recently lucked out and was able to snag a 2019 Ranger Lariat FX4 (Magnetic&Chrome) from Evergreen Ford in Issaquah, WA. I wasn't even planning on buying it, but it was there in the dealership (it just showed up the night before) when I was looking at F150s. One other person test drove it before me, but I think I was quicker to say "I'm buying this truck!" than they were.

So far, it's the only Ranger I've seen in Washington state, but I'm sure I'll be seeing plenty of them on the roads once they start rolling into the dealerships.

What made you pick a Ranger over the F150?

I like the size, and the way it drives. Honestly, an F150 would be a pita for me in Seattle, where the parking spots are all painted for Mini Coopers. Other than that, what's not to love? The Lariat trim has all of the nice highway/city trim (and great stock sound system) that I would want, and the FX4 package covers the real fun stuff. And the price was right.

I see you have the tow package, did you get a plug under the dash for the Brake Controller?

I'd need to check. This build came with the tow package, and since I have nothing to tow yet, I really haven't paid much attention to it. For me, a tow hitch is a convenient place to hook up a 12m telescoping antenna mast for doing field radio work. Maybe that will change at some point in the future.

Yo, I'll be ordering up a 19 as soon as I close on a house soon. I have a 95 XLT 4x4 that I'll be selling as soon as I get the 19. I pulled the supercharger from it when I rebuilt the engine a couple thousand miles ago but haven't put it back on. It'll sell with the truck. Also have a modded 12.9 sec 2017 Fusion Sport 2.7 AWD and an 89 conv Mustang with a 436 small block, Viper spec T-56 and 4.30 gears. I've already started gathering parts for the new Ranger. Soft open tailgate kit, BDX tuner. I'll be looking to see if I can do the full digital instrument cluster from an Explorer, like I did on my Fusion, and try to see if it's possible to retrofit a heated steering wheel from an Explorer as well.

Hi Gang Gator Bob here from warm and sunny South Florida.
Had an "11 Tacoma and loved it. Traded up to a '16 Limited and its awesome....but it just doesn't drive that great. It's not the ride but the engine/tranny. Just seems to be very jerky..Power is there if I floor it but not zippy driving around town. Even if I engage the ECT button.
Gas mileage stinks too...18 mpg max
So I've ordered a '19 Ranger Lariat. Don't need 4x4 here. I've never owned a Ford before but I know they make great trucks. Really wish this new Ranger had a Sunroof though, love driving with the top back and the A/C on.
Ordered on Oct 10th and just got my VIN number and a build date of 3/11/19. A little bummed it's taking so long. Good thing Toyota is letting me extend my lease until April 11th. If i don't have the new truck by then I'll have to rent something.

We've plenty of Seminoles and Knights in the state to take care of those Gators!

Gator Bob, you're quite close. Did you order thru Plantation Ford?

Just ordered my Ranger Lariat 4x4 sport package, with towing package, black running boards, 501A package, tonneau cover, spray in bedliner in hot pepper red. Don't have the order number or VIN yet. I'm guessing I won't see the truck for 10-12 weeks. How long from order do most see their order number and VIN? I'm in Michigan on the west side so maybe being near Detroit might help. Got mine on the Z-plan.

I ordered mine just before Christmas - got my VIN about 10 days ago and got my Build date last week. Build date of 3/11 - Delivery TBD, but I would expect late March or early April. From what others here have experienced, the timelines seem to vary greatly. Don't know if it is due to Dealers dragging their feet or if there is something about specific orders that slows them down. Details seem to be pretty sparse. 12-16 weeks seems to be what I would expect - if it comes sooner then you can be pleasantly surprised.

Hey folks, new here! I currently drive an '05 Frontier SE 4X4, and am looking to trade for a Ranger Lariat FX4 in a couple of months. A friend of mine's a salesman at the local Ford dealer, and he currently has two Lariats on the lot, one grey and the other pearl white. I test drove the white one today, and it was SMOOTH - worlds apart from my Frontier with an offroad OME suspension. Too many electronic doodads for me to figure out on the short test drive, but did notice that it shifted a lot for maximum efficiency, taking advantage of all those 10 gears. It felt and looked solid, so we're all in for a real treat with this truck.

There's another thread concerned with whether the spray-in bedliner extended to the vertical and bottom edges of the bed and tailgate, respectively - I took a good look, and unfortunately the answer is "NO". The material extended only to the end of the bed, and vertical end of the tailgate. Have that touch-up paint ready.

Apart from learning all sorts of info. about the new Ranger here on 5G, I also look forward to reading and contributing to the OFFROADING sections/threads - my Ranger will be a tow vehicle primarily, but it'll be taken on offroading trips (Moab, for example), where it'd need at least a 2.5" lift and 33" tires; the FX4's electronic features, skid plates, and locking diff. will come in handy and save me $$$ from having to buy aftermarket parts. All I need are rock sliders and a winch bumper, as far as I can tell. I can't wait for companies to start making offroad equipment for the Ranger, it'll be a hoot!

Glad to be part of this forum - the Nissan Frontier forum has been excellent, and I don't expect anything less here. ;-)
