So, I have a question. I keep hearing people say that they installed a tailgate damper so when their hands were full it wouldn't slam down. Well, if you hands were full how did you open it in the first place?
That's about to become the new, "Urgent" gottahave thread - foot activated tailgate release electro-mechanical hack through trailer hitch stop turn lights and backup sensor Forscan mod!

After this comes the tailgate riser actuator turnscrew mod....never ends...muhahahahaha:devil:

This makes me so jealous. Talk about convenience.

I'm jealous too, maybe next redesign?. Unfortunately a Chevy comes with that tailgate so I'll stick to my manual one for now. lol

I also like the Ridgeline tailgate. Did Honda put a patent on the way it opens?

I'm not sure you can patent the way a tailgate opens, it's powered just like windows and door locks? Kind of like the mini vans, they all have a powered sliding side door now. Boy this feature will start another whole argument about dampers. ?

Got FORScan up and running. Removing the tune and then going to try to push the as built file from Motorcraft service website to the truck to disable BLISS and other options my STX does not have so the error messages will stop showing up on the recently installed XLT cluster which is a huge upgrade.

The tailgate swings out and down on the Ridgeline. It'll be nice if the Ranger can do the same thing.

Well a blind hog found an acorn. No more error messages. New dash cluster is a 100% success.

I can see a lot more FORScan stuff being messed with now.

In all seriousness, good work on getting your gauges working.

I don’t get why people get their panties in a bunch over the damper, a $40 mod that makes lowering the tailgate easier and prevents it slamming down
This is 95% good natured joking around making fun of ourselves. The tailgate dampener has more or less become the totem for this forum.
