Can you give us details on your tailgate damper and auto on/off fix?

Damper you can order from Ford Accessories. Was like $40 and maybe 20 minutes to install. But you do need a large allen wrench so might need a quick trip to Home Depot to complete. There are a few ways to fix the Auto Off/On. I went with the Auto Stop Eliminator. (Google it.) It was like $80 and 15 minutes to install. Pretty easy (they have a video), but kind of hard to see so it will take some practice to get your hand in the small space to do it. PM me if you have any questions. Happy to help.

I went with the $3.96 LED night light (2 ea) from Amazon. Plugged into the 110V outlet on the back of the center console - no more Auto Start/Stop! Light isn't even noticeable at night. Here's a link: https://www.amazon.com/GE-11311-Ele...1311,+2+Piece+Brand:+GE&qid=1595807909&sr=8-1

Hope this helps..

I wonder if this will work. It turns the 110 outlet to a 12volt socket.

Well, if you do that, you can't use the 110V night light...
I thought the purpose was to keep the Auto stop from shutting off the engine by plugging something in the outlet. Does it have to be a night light?

It needs to be something that will draw a small amount of power.

The truck needs to see a current draw on the 110 outlet to disable the ASS. Got to love the anachronism, because it is a Pain In The.... IMHO. You could use that but you would need to plug something into it. Save the cost of the middle-man. Get a nightlight or turn it off in Forscan.

I'm already used to pushing the button by the shifter. Just wondering if that 110 to 12volt converter will work.

Those things are usually just a transformer and AC to DC rectifier. They don't draw any or much current unless something that uses power is plugged in. Even a phone charger doesn't draw enough unless a phone is plugged in. Wonder if ASS comes back once the phone is fully charged?

Only one way to find out. ?

My phone uses USB-C. It charges quickly.
