One nice feature of the JB4 is it's compatible with whatever flash map you want to run, even the factory performance flash. You could use it to add only boost when you're on higher octane, fine tune torque, and a variety of things. It's a pretty unique tuning tool and has a full logging suite built in.

I will also add for JB4 style units.
They are not assigned to a VIN number.
Unlike so tunes which are vehicle specific I could remove JB4 from my truck, mail it to my Nephew (Ford Ranger) and he could install and test. Then send back. Another benefit of this style piggy back unit.

@Terry@BMS knows his stuff. Glad to see you joined the forum! I just got mine the other day but no Bluetooth so I can’t give everyone numbers yet. I will need to get the Bluetooth to pair with the app I already have. Makes life so much easier. Hopefully I will get that soon so I can give everyone numbers.
Terry can we make that happen? No problem buying it.

Terry/BMS are definitely the real deal. I ran his JB3 with methanol injection on my old BMW 335i probably close to 10 years ago. Turned that car into a reliable, daily driven Corvette killer. I'd run a JB4 on this truck any day.....I just need to break her in first.

Just ordered the Ford Performance tune. The cut sheet says it also improves the transmission shift schedule so I hope to reap those benefits. Next purchase will be the JB4 and stack it with the Ford tune.

I've played it safe with warranty for years because I had kids and the bills to go with them (aka: responsibilities) Now they're all grown up so I'm gonna play!

Be sure to share experience with transmission changes.
This would be interesting even if it was the only change.

Power gains of up to 50whp and 70wtq on a factory vehicle without the risks of flashing!
This plug and play tuner attaches to two easy to access sensors in the engine bay and works with your factory ECU tuning to remap your boost, timing, and fueling for optimal performance and reduced turbo lag.

Unlike flash remaps which are quick to install but can never be fully removed with a JB4 the vehicle is never aware it's making more than the factory boost or power levels. Fuel economy during normal driving is unchanged and it's compatible with all driving modes including towing.

Unlike other less advanced systems the JB4 includes CANbus functionality allowing it to take in critical engine data directly from the ECU for real time tuning. The data includes pedal position, throttle position, timing advance, fuel trims, air/fuel ratio, engine knock, fuel trims, gear, and much more.
The JB4 includes multiple maps including those for 91 octane, 93 octane, factory tuning, VALET mode, E85 mixtures, and unleaded race gas. In addition it offers boost by gear settings to improve launches, the ability to read and delete fault codes, and much more.
Neato, I just don't want to be adding all that extra engine management hardware. Seems like a good alternative though.

Is the 50whp/70wtq increased based only on map5? Based on the graphs that's what it looks like and that map is for use with race gas or an e85 mix and not pump gas(93 octane).

@Terry@BMS Looking at the pic on your website, are the dyno numbers from a Ranger with larger than stock tires ? I'll be running the same tire and rim size as factory (265-60-18 on 18x8's) on mine.

It is a local customers truck with aftermarket rims/tires I think, phpto below. But using boost by gear you should be able to dial in launching on whatever tires you want to run! My main truck is a 2018 F150 2.7L with larger turbos that runs high 11s in the 1/4 on the factory 245/70/17 tires. :)

All dyno runs were done on the same tank of ~93 octane fuel. The map guide posted in our thread though was copied from another tuner and pretty conservative. Since it's a new product we'll continue evaluating customer logs and udpate the mapping guide as we see more data over a wider range of climate and operational conditions. Nothing wrong with starting on lower maps and working your way up. :)

How would you rate the JB4 as a stand alone product? Trying to debate whether or not it would be beneficial to stack with a tune or to use it by itself. Thanks in advance.

Are there 93 octane numbers stock vs JB tune?

If I recall on the website that was not available yet.
