Family Firearms has been great from order to arrival is less than 5 days and the best prices. Win Win.. I paid $569 for the MP_15 with a CT Red Dot.

There is a long range here about 22 miles away, That's why I bought the .223 and sold the 22 for $250 Wasn't expecting that much. Pay them $90 bucks and they give you a key to go when ever you want with no further charges and no range master.

. I would say that's a great deal especially because I'm at the Range at least 2X a week I have all my mags loaded (have six for each gun) which pretty much uses my time. I don't use the Magula to reload my mags at the range. I shoot all the mags then leave. Only going 3-7 yd If I can get good grouping at 3-7 yards I will be very happy. I don't use the lasers at the range except to adjust them, I shoot 10 feet pretty good That's 3 yards right there

I'm surprised you sold the 22 already,it's still a fun rifle to shoot even if you have a 223. Plus it's great for training because all the mechanicals are the same as an AR and the ammo costs are pennies.

The place we go to out in the desert is about as far as your long distance range,it's 26 miles from my door. I like it because you can shoot out 600+ yards if you want to and it's nice and wide and all cleared out. We have targets set up all over from 7 & 10 yards for pistol,50,100 and usually one at 250 yards. It's an all day event between driving there, setting everything up,shooting, plus we talk like a bunch of old ladies lol, and then loading everything back up.

I ordered the 22 M&P compact on Thursday from Smokey Mountain Guns and it still hasn't shipped yet but I know they're backlogged with orders right now. I'm so busy with work I won't get out for at least 2 more weeks anyways. That darn Kimber KHX with the CT laser grips is still available at Family Firearms and calling my name. I was going to get the Rock Island 9mm but the one I wanted is now sold out. I'm waiting to hear back from one other customer, if he's willing to wait for me until the end of May I'm going to buy it. I should just get it now as I don't need the money from the job to buy it but I'm just trying to justify it by telling myself this. lol Let us know how you like the 223 once you shoot it.

So I was looking through my saved Youtube videos and found this one below. One of my customers has this and he told me he bought it "Just because it's so F'ing cool"! It a dual barrel 12 Gauge and there's a selector switch with at the top so you can have it either feed from one side or the other or have it alternate between the two. So you can put buck in one tube and slugs into the other. lol Also has a built in laser and light. I wish I knew that the price came down because when he bought his it was $1,200.00 and now they're down to the mid $700's but out of stock everywhere! Just thought I'd give you something else for your "wish list". ?

Headline says 14 in the barrel & one in the chamber...don’t pull the trigger, put the rounds in the magazine..:)

I don't see me messing with the .22 since I cannot shoot in my back yard across the water. I don't want to waste precious range time on the >22. I was going to keep it but they offered about $80 les than I paid. $250 so I rented it for a month for 80 bucks.

Have not receive the .223 orders yet but I found $4 .223/20 boxes That matches well with 50 rds of 9mm. I did buy 50 rounds of Federal. I shot an AK in the deserts around Las Vegas but we didn't set up targets so I learned nothing. LOL I am strictly sticking to maximizing to 10 yards
I just know I won't shoot the .22 I have started to collect .223 rounds. I have found 3 boxes equal to one box of 9m. It's the more inexpensive ammunition but I will try that first.

FAmilyFirearms is the bomb for purchasing weapons.....Very fast shipping

What's everybody using for cleaning and lubing? I have some CLP grease and CLP spray cleaner and Lube. I also have a can of ballistol. When I go to the range , I normally shoot my mags that are preloaded. I don't waste range time reloading mags.. I wonder if I'm overdoing the cleaning at 50 rnds............ Also wondering if I should get good on one gun first, then bringing the others, or concentrate on each gun fire all three. If I load all my mags and shot them all out, that is a decent practice session. I try and do 30 minutes two or three times a week. I just cleaned and lubed the MP 15. And have a crap load of .223 ammo coming. I found loads that are equal in price or even less in some cases to the 9 m m. That's what tipped the scale for me. Three 20 round boxes are $15. I'll probably buying bulk ammo for that.

Every 50 rounds lol yeah that's a little to much. I admit the one thing I'm horrible at is keeping mine cleaned, you'd think I'd be better considering I'm so OCD! I just cleaned my AR and my Scorpion a couple weeks ago and they both had about 1200 rounds through them. The BCG (bolt carrier group) was dirty but really not that bad and same with the barrel and the feed ramp. Rule of thumb is 500-1000 rounds as the 223 burns hotter than say a 22 which is the dirtiest ammo. My 22's I try to do every 300-500 but even then I've got lazy and had well over 1000 through my M&P 15-22.

I use Ballistol or the Rem-oil and soak the barrel and feed ramp then put it aside while I clean the BCG. Then I run a bore snake through it 4-5 times and I'm done, keep it simple. I'll give the trigger a good spray clean and wipe down then another quick shot of either of those as both with lube it. The only thing I hate about the Ballistol is it smells nasty! I usually leave my stuff in the garage for a day or two as I don't want that smell in my safe or my gun bags.

One of the best lubes is this stuff here,Slip 2000 EWL. Read the reviews on Amazon they're all 5 stars. It's expensive but you only need a couple drops. I use this stuff on all my suppressor baffles. A light coating on them and it helps keep the lead build up on them. I also use this on all my pistols, just a couple drops on the slide and rails and you can use a q-tip to spread it around.

I'd bring them all and shoot them together. Now if you were a new gun owner and have never shot before I'd probably concentrate on one to start to familiarize yourself with it for at least the first 5-6 trips. I bring at least 5-6 different ones each time but I like going from pistol first, then the AR,then I'll shoot my Scorpion and I'll usually finish with another pistol to end the day. My usual is 1 - 22 and 2 - 9mm pistols,my Scorpion, a 223 AR (sometimes my 15-22) and then my 223 and 9mm AR pistols both have 8" barrels.

Thank you Dave you've been really helpful. I haven't shot as a hobby since the mid-90s when we used to take my Tacoma and out into the desert of Las Vegas and do what you did. So any guidance is precious to me. I like to take off three handguns to the range I just didn't know if I was wasting time shooting 3 guns. But when I shoot three guns I definitely can feel the difference between all three which is important to me. Usually I only shoot whatever mags have loaded before I went. It's usually about 7 mags per gun. And I am spent. Now I got to add the mp15 to the range. Can't wait till the outdoor range is open. I ordered some of that oil. Hitchcock 44 only uses ballistol and nothing else. So I was thinking if he does that, he shoots a hell of a lot and why should I get oil and grease and everything else? But I already have it I just don't want to get grease or oil near the firing pin it'll get mucked up pretty fast. Thanks again.

Anytime Tom. I got away from shooting too for a while in the mid 2000's as I was so busy working I didn't have time for much of anything. Plus we couldn't have anything that wasn't approved by our AG,they have a specific list of what you can own. Once I moved out here I was like a kid in a candy store and still can't stop buying stuff. lol That's why I like to bring a bunch of different ones because there's such a difference between them and it can get boring just shooting one or two all day. See I keep telling myself that and next thing I know there's another one on it's way.

Everyone has their own routine on how to do things but I usually watch a ton of Youtube videos and read stuff from different gun forums and come up with a common ground. Some guys like to clean their guns after every ranger trip and some like myself hate it and get lazy and push until they're so dirty it's necessary. Now I am better at cleaning my carry guns because I'm trusting my life with them so I want to make sure they're always good to go.

Speaking of Hickok45 I use his AR video when I'm taking my bolt apart. He's really good at explaining everything and don't go to fast like some others do.

That video is really good I've seen that before buying my mp15. After watching him clean his guns I stopped using oil and grease. Just Ballistol. But I've taken to use the grease on any metal parts that are showing wear. And just a tiny drop oil on the slides. I probably shouldn't be cleaning the guns after only 50 rounds. Maybe I'll do it once every two weeks. I try to get the range 2x a week. The biggest problem with oil as it spreads and could get down into the firing pin where are some dust would comply with the oil and cause the pin to fail. Put a half a can of lighter fluid to the one gun that I did drop oil down that place. It should clean out all the oil. My guns were dripping when I took him out to the range trigger was coated. I'm going to clean the guns less and shoot some more between the cleanings. I did clean and Lube the mp15 though before I shot it. Still waiting for.223 ammunition. Half my order was shipped today so maybe next week I'll get to shoot the AR at the range

My 22 M&P compact came in today that I ordered last Thursday. I really like the feel of it as it's very close to my Shield 9mm,the grip on my Shield is a little thinner. Very lightweight even with the suppressor on it but that only weighs 4.3 oz so it doesn't make the pistol front end heavy. It already has the threaded barrel and adapter and comes with 2 mags. Not a bad deal for $299.99 with free shipping and no tax.

I wanted to get the Rock Island 1911 9mm but they were all sold out everywhere so it was down to the Kimber KHX 1911 with the CT laser grips or the 1911 Springfield Armory Range Officer Elite LW Champ. The site where I bought it from (Cornerstone Arms) said email for the best cash price which at the time the best I could find online was $760 + $20.00 shipping. He responded that it was his last one and he'd do it for $719.00 OTD so needless to say that one has a new home next week. lol I wasn't going to spend my stimulus check (still haven't received it) but I've been lucky to still have been really busy working so I figured I do my part to help the economy. :D I love my Springfield EMP 1911 and this one is a 4" barrel with a lightweight forged alloy frame and steel slide, 9+1 capacity and fiber optic front site.

Went out shooting today for a few hours. Tried out the new M&P 22 compact. Really like the feel of it as it's close to my Shield and super quite suppressed. We just brought pistols today but I did bring out my M&P 15-22 to sight in a scope I had from my old one. It originally came with a cheap red dot that just never held zero so threw on the scope last night and it only took 6 shots to zero it in at 25 yards. Easily hitting the steel silhouette target at 75 yards.

The center target below was rapid fire from 10 yards. There's a few low flyers but that's from left handed shooting. I always try and shoot a mag or two once in a while off hand just in case you ever have to use it. I'm really loving the new Kimber 1911 more and more,it's starting to become my favorite but will see once the new Springfield 1911 comes in next week. lol My buddy brought his e-z up canopy which really helps just to get out of the sun and keep the guns from being scorching hot. Now another thing I need to buy!

Calling @Snorebaby, @SubVet , @joeb427 lol . Please, anyone else who has any info I'm interested in you're input. I just know Doug,Tom and Joe have the P365. When you guys were looking at the P365's did you happen to check out the P365 XL ? It's only .6 longer and comes standard with the new XRAY3 Day/Night sights and 2/12 round mags. I was looking at the black one here but then stumbled across this one here in Coyote Tan. That one comes with 2/12 round mags and 1/15 round mag.

.6 isn't going to make any difference when carrying and I do like the night sites, extra mag and the Coyote Tan with the flat trigger. What say you?
