I usually set up at 7 yards to start. Nice easy aimed shots. I end up at 3 yards with 2 quick draw shots not looking down the sights. I do that for the "bull rush" scenario where there is little time to react. I sometimes do it at 7yds just for fun. The class that I took, the instructor also mentioned the "screwed if over 21 ft" rule. He is a Maj. on the local Sheriffs Dept. (and a classmate/friend of my wife) and does the firearms training for several police departments. So I figure he would know. He keeps up on all the rules/regulations and changes.

On a side note, we agree to disagree on "civilian" open carry :sunglasses: . He is against it for various reasons.

I think if you ever ended up in a shooting you're probably going be be dragged through the ringer in most cases and also depending on what state it happens in. Here maybe not so much but back in MA the victim has more rights than you!

I don't open carry but I'm not against it either. I would just rather have mine concealed. My feeling is you're going to be the first one someone will take out because they can see you have a gun and I'd rather have the upper hand being concealed. :bandit:

Here in GA not so much either. The victims family will be the one doing all the complaining and saying how much of a saint they were.

So we will agree to disagree also:like:.

I see your point and agree with it as it makes sense.

BUT

My stance is most of the armed robberies are done for intimidation and quickly with no one around (if possible). Too many people to keep track of. If they see a gun, they will back off and leave for the assumption that you are a plain clothes cop or they don't want to possibly get shot as they now don't have the upper hand. Robberies are usually spur of the moment and a quick "get in/get out" scenario as to not be there when the cops arrive. I am always vigilant of my surroundings. Plus the wife usually "has my back" and shielding it from sight while standing in line. She can always grab it if needed also.

With that being said, there is always that chance of some crazy or drugged up MF who just doesn't care and will shoot you. But you also have that chance of someone running a red light and T-boning you too.

I carry SOB and most times you wouldn't know I was carrying. I prefer that to hip carry and I don't like IWB. Not real comfortable to me. Summer time is the hardest to conceal as I was brought up to not wear a shirt untucked in public. Fall and winter I usually conceal but that is because of an over shirt or jacket demands it for the weather.

My philosophy is carry how you want (legally). Everyone is different and how they carry is their business. One is not better than the other. Be thankful that you have another good guy out on the street with you. Criminals don't open carry.

Love the discussion.

On a side note - Gonna get the Alien Gear Cloak Mod OWB for my 365. I carry hip when riding to and from work. That way I can take the holster off and put it in the trunk when I get there. I was debating over it and the ShapeShift OWB. I like the fact that the Cloak has alot more shells and they are cheaper than the ShapeShift shells.

Here in WA, the rights go to the SOB who broke into my house. My FIL always told me, make sure they leave in a body bag so they can't come back and sue you. Of course, you still have to deal with the family, but that becomes 'he said, she said' and not "Your stairs are unsafe and made me trip and fall down and break my neck while I was out to do bodily harm to you and your family...shame on you homeowner!"

Good post and very good points too. Both of ours are valid points as to open or conceal carry and I don't think one is better than the other,it's personal preference. One nice thing about living here in AZ is you don't have to worry if you're conceal carrying and your shirt rides up and exposes your gun. Most could care less but there are some who have moved here from commie states who might/will say something. Back in MA it would rile the sheep and if they reported you (even though it's legal) it's up to each police chief if they want to reject you CCW next time it's up for renewal. There's basically a set of laws for every city/town,they make it up as they go!

I think you'll be happy with the Cloak,it's one of the best holsters I've ever owned. I looked at the ShapeSift too but I'll never use all those different parts and carry options. I tried carrying IWB years ago and could never get used to it,it's just not comfortable. Between the Cloak and the Kore belt I don't think there's a more comfortable
combination. There is absolutely zero sag with that belt,it's like wearing a piece of steel around your waist. lol

Yeah, how dare you not have carpeting on your stairs! I'm suing you for 1M! lol:sunglasses:

Same thing in MA. I knew a few of the local LE and one told me the exact same thing as your FIL. It sucks that you have to think like that but it's true.a dead person can't testify! I hope I'm never in that situation.

Yep...Same here. My friend said to make sure they leave in a body bag. Makes it easier when it's only one side of the story. A head shot makes sure the threat is eliminated.

At first I thought it was real and I'm like these guys are crazy trusting a robot not to shoot them. I love the ending when the robot steals the robot dog and takes off.Lol

Well look what I did......FamilyFirearms are the only ones I see in stock and yet they had the best price $619 all in for the model with the Red Dot. I will try my .22 scope on it but I really wanted to try a red dot. I took the scope off the .22 and am going to consign it, I won't shoot it at the range if I have a .223.

I was laughing as soon as they started hitting the robot...especially when the guy hit it with the battering ram. I went and watched a couple of their other videos. It looks like they're a small firm (?) working out of a warehouse.

I haven't had a chance to watch any others yet but was planning to this weekend. Yeah I was cracking up when the guy was making the robot with the hockey stick then the battering ram. lol I don't know why but all I could picture was Sid hitting the robot with the battering ram and laughing his ass off afterwards.

There's one video showing how they do the motion-capture; it's kind of long and I shut it off when they started getting technical...lol.

The dude wearing the motion-capture suit looks like he gets his ass kicked pretty good during these shoots.

I had the feeling you were going to get it sooner than later. :like: For an AR you're better off getting a good scope (not a cheap one) because once you start going out past 100 yards it makes a huge difference. I didn't spend crazy money but mine was $250.00 and it was on sale as they were discontinuing it for a new model. It's this Nikon here.

I know you're probably thinking I won't shoot out past 100 yards and I thought that too. But after you shoot it for a while 100 yards gets boring. It's a challenge shooting out further because you then have to compensate for a lot of things like wind and bullet drop so it's fun to dial it in and hit a steel target 400+ yards out.

I wouldn't give up on the 22 yet. lol I always bring mine even when I have my 223 with me. Especially now with the price of ammo it gets expensive after a couple of mags with 223. If you need some extra mags these are good and have free shipping now if you buy 10.

Yeah I don't know about the 22. It's fun to shoot but I don't need $200 that bad that I have to sell it. Unless I get a good offer. Damm it has SIX 30rd Mags and nearly 1000 rounds of unused ammo. But I guarantee it will not get used as I am finding $5/20 .223 ammo. Not expensive as I thought.
