Perform at own risk !!!

I performed an unofficial upgrade from Sync 3.3 to 3.4 with no issue ... My understanding is that 3.4 currently is only available on the 2020 Ranger.

Here is what I did. I performed ONLY step 4 (Install the latest Sync 3.4 update file - USB 3) of the following guide: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/upgrade-sync-3-v3-0-v3-4-instructions-458828/

I skipped updating the firmware, formatting, etc. I downloaded USB 3 which looks to be the latest official Sync 3.4 update and it successfully updated my Sync unit from version 3.3 to 3.4 on my Ranger 2019.

It takes a bit of time - about 20 minutes and the unit rebooted at the end. It comes back up with the updated 3.4 sleek interface.

Love the hear the experience of others.

The 3.4 update appears to be coming out today for the 2019 Rangers.

I got it on my FordPass app this morning.

I got that on my phone too but when I went to the Ford sync download site it just gave what looks like an updated 3.3 Anyone else actually got the 3.4 through the official download?

Same, it's the 3.3, not 3.4 from what I can tell. Like you indicated in your first post, it may very well be that only 2020 Rangers get this.

Where were you able to get the update file?

Google share posted within the f150 forum link

Here is the direct link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...j3?usp=sharing

I downloaded the "USB 3.rar" file. Unzipped the files and copied them to a USB stick. Insert in USB port of ranger. Message should appear after a few that system is updating. Leave engine running and be patient. Took about 20 min for me.

Yeah me too. The picture of the sync display they included in that ford app notification is version 3.3. With version 3.4 the WiFi icon is on the right of the outside temp.

My Sirius XM wasn't showing channels and station logos following the update. I performed a factory reset of my unit (not sure that was necessary) and requested a Sirius XM subscription update by calling them. Tuned to channel 2 and within 10 minutes received message that Sirius XM was updating. All is working now.

Any new features with the update?

Does the system response appear snappier?

It seems like they just blasted it out to everyone so they'd check if there was an update. There aren't any new updates available.

You're going to have crashes and other problems that you wouldn't normally have on v3.4. Just an FYI.

I got the same "SYNC 3 update - transform your commute" message on My Ford Pass on my phone today. As others have done, I got on my laptop and no update is available. I then called Ford customer service on the 800 number. I had to find and give them my VIN (real convenient) and they also said that no update is available.

What a sh!tshow!!!

Thanks for the update OP, looking at that F150 forum thread has me kinda thinking that waiting for the official finished and updated version might be the best thing to do.

Nice visual overhaul where you can select different backgrounds. Beautiful night mode. A few new settings I haven’t seen before. I’m able to check for system updates over the cars LTE connection and I don’t have the paid cell plan. Don’t remember that being possible on 3.3. Tells me I’m up to date with a timestamp of the last check. Everything works: Bluetooth, radio, climate control, CarPlay, Sirius XM, ... have

I like the visual overhaul. Night mode is gorgeous. Feels snappier. No annoying pop-ups when I plug in car play. I’m able to check for updates over the internal LTE system while I don’t have a paid data plan. Don’t remember that being possible on 3.3. A few new settings I need to look into. Everything works so far: Bluetooth, FordPass, CarPlay, Sirius XM, maps etc. No crashes or issues so far. System updates tells me I’m up to date.

Let me know if you want to see more photos or test any specific features.
