Jim what are you thinking for this? What homelink system are you intending on using? I want to install something similar, right now I am using an Alexa Auto to allow me to do this but would rather have something less in the car and more looks like it was built in. Interested to hear how you planning on accomplishing this.

Might get the auto-dimming mirror (when they're back in stock), but I've already bought the Homelink setup to install in the overhead console.

Looking forwards to seeing how the install goes of the overhead console. Post a photo when you have it setup. I going to do one or the other to integrate homelink into my XLT.

I didn't have a choice -- I don't have any power to the sunvisors, so it has to go in the overhead panel.

I decided to go for adding the homelink into the overhead console. Ordered the V5 kit off Amazon Wednesday and was delivered Friday so today was install day. As you can see in the pictures there is not an easy way, to me anyway, to splice into a power supply in the console so I ended up going all the way to the fuse block via the headliner and pillar.

What you see is all there was for slack. No way I was going to splice into that even if I could determine which wire was 12v

So, of course, the next logical choice is the windshield thingy but not any better options there so to the fuse block it is. Routed via the headliner and pillar

Yea it's an ugly cut bt I didn't have much luck trying to hold the foam gasket in place and trace it out so I got it close and then just went at it with the dremel. For the record, the foam is not large enough for the tabs to fit so I had to trim 1/16" at a time until it would fit. The plastic tabs circled will also have to be cut for the homelink module to fit properly

The kit I ordered had the black, gray and tan bezels provided but none of them actually matched the console color. I ended up going with the gray in the end. I used 3 gaskets to get it tight and not move.

I had to use an add a fuse kit for the power wiring and here are several spare fuses available but 37 was the first one I found that was ignition switched so I went with it. You can see the 1amp fuse that came with the homelink wiring harness just to the right of the fuse block.

Used an attachment bolt for the ground, zip-tied the excess wire to a harness sunder the dash and was ready to program.

Finished product with lighted buttons.

All in all not too difficult of a mod. Think it took me about 3 hours and that was with a trip to the automotive store for the add a fuse. If someone smarter than me can determine which wire in the console is power this whole project would be less than an hour.
