Swapped out the factory grill today. One issue is the harness that comes with it appears to be for AU Ranger I think. Does anyone happen to know if you can de-pin the factory style 8-pin headlight connectors? The female side looks doable but not sure about the male side plug. I see SPV has a headlight harness for something else and was thinking if I could reposition that tapped pin to the DRL signal wire on pin 6, I could just make my own harness to connect the grill lights. The grill uses a 3 pin connector.

My plan was get the SPV harness, reposition the tapped wire from pin 5 to the DRL signal (pin 6), run an add-a-fuse to an available spot in the fuse box, run a ground to chassis or something, use a weatherpack 3 pin plug to keep it all nice and tidy.

Any tips or advice is welcomed, don't really mess with wiring much. I really don't want to cut into the factory harness for anything.

Dude, I like the new grill!
That is cool!
Unfortunately, I don't have the knowledge to be of any sort of help with your wiring dilemma. Hopefully someone will chime in with the information that you need. Good luck bud!

Stage 3 Motorsports has a harness that plugs into the drivers side marker lamp that you can plug grille lights into , that's how mine are hooked up... it comes with their gille lights but I think they sell it separately...

You might want to check with @airline tech . He switched his halogens to LEDs and has done a lot of investigation into the pinouts for the headlights. Since the headlights are not Fused I am not sure how the will react to extra load being added to the LED DRL curcuit without a relay.

So, the end goal is?

Have the grille lights solely as DRL's? - Will they be bright enough?
and disable the LED Strip (BRIGHT) as DRL

or

Just simply have the grille lights (on) with parking lights or on (included) with the LED Strip (BRIGHT)?

Some operational notes:
The Park & DRL - LED Headlight are on the same light strip, when DRL is active it shifts from Dim to Bright via the Pin 6 Power.
So yes, the (connector) can be De-Pinned (Main Harness) and you could feed that power into another connector.
The only POSSIBLE issue is the FEEDBACK of the circuit back to the BCM, monitoring as the BCM may trigger a fault and disable the circuit (if it does not closely match) the factory LED Output.

A Forscan - Option would be - Set (DRL - Include Park Lamps) and you could tap power at either (Side Marker) - Note: The Side Marker is the common place for tapped power (Grille Lights).
And if you just want to have the Grille Lights (on) with Parking - leave it as is and no Forscan Mod.

If you want to add (DRL- Include Parking Lamps) - Then during DRL (Mode) the Park Lamps will not shut off and they will remain lit.
This Includes - Rear Park (Position), License Plate Lights & Side Markers with this As-Built change, but it gives you the Lighting on the (Grille) as well in DRL Mode.

Note: Your Factory As Built is set as below:

DRL Include Parklamps
726-26-02 - 0000-0002-0057 - x1xx-xxxx-xxxx
0=Disabled 1=Enabled
This will allow (Sidemarker & Taillamps & License Plate Lights) On with the DRL's
Note: If you enable this, ensure you inhibit the following setting for DRL DTC Inhibit

DRL DTC Inhibit LF & RF DRL
726-24-01 - 0000-00C0-DE22 - (Canada -LED)- xxxx-xxCx-xxxx
726-24-01 - 0000-00C0-D0E2 - (US Version (Halo)
726-24-01 - 0000-0000-D022 - (US Version - LED)
0=Normal C=Inhibit
Note: If you have LED's and set DRL Include Park Lamps -if set to normal this will set (Left & Right) DRL Faults.

The reason for the (INHIBIT) is the fact that the DRL & Park are a shared light source granted the DTC's will only show with a scan tool (history codes) and it sees DRL & Park Lamp Power at the same time on the same light.

Canada Trucks are (Required) to have constant DRLs, so this is the reason that the Canada Trucks are factory set to (Inhibit) and also set to (DRL-Include Park Lamps) as they also require the rear tail lamps to be always lit.

I guess the goal would be have them function with the DRL of headlights. Come on when they do and stay on. Like when you unlock the truck, open the door, running, etc...

This is the type of harness it came with.

3 Pin from grill harness plugs into this middle harness. This middle harness plugs between the factory headlight plug. It has a single wire plug that runs to a fuse tap. This single wire is also wired to another single wire that says "connect to DRL harness" which isn't a thing.

This 3 pin to the grill has a blue wire, which is the power source from fuse box, a black wire which is ground, and a white wire that I assume is signal, but not sure.

When connecting the middle harness the grill lights do work, but the headlight does not. Looking at the pinout of the harness it seems the black wire is pin 8 which is ground as expected. The white wire however is coming from pin 5, which is parking light power.

The main headlight plug on this harness is missing a pin, so it's only 7 out of 8 pin. It appears to be pin 4 that is missing.

It's also saying to plug into fuse 19, which is not a viable fuse to use for the US spec ranger.
