So sorry for your loss. Be kind to your husband as you both heal. I was in a similar situation some years ago. Absolutely devastating. Took months to get over it. Now I can look back on the good times we had. That dog could dig for moles with the best of them. Never caught one, my yard looked like a battle field. I miss that.
Absolutely. I wish I could take his pain away. He blames himself, I definitely do not.

So sorry for your loss and hate to imagine your hubby's horror to have to experience that as it happened. I had only learned of this thread a couple days ago and was logging on to post pics of our little guy. We send our love, amidst our tears.
Thank you, Neil.

so sorry to hear this Tracy. Interesting little tidbit my pup I just posted is named Lucy as well.

Lucy was killed today. She went to the mailbox with my husband, like she always does, but ran into the road before he could stop her & a truck hit her & kept going.

Rest in peace, Lucy.

It is normal human nature for your husband to blame himself, however, in time he'll heal.

I know that you are grieving yourself Tracy, but it is vital that you support him for both his physical and mental health in this difficult time.

I say this merely to reiterate, as I know you are doing your utmost best...

Thank you so much, Jeff. I will. He is really torn up over it. I’ll help him through. It just reminds you how precious life is & how fast it can be taken away.

Hi Tracy,

Very sad to hear of your dog crossing the rainbow bridge....A big hole in your heart. You still have fond memories of her! She made you folks richer inside during her time on this earth!

Sadly,
Phil

Well said, very well indeed Alex...

I was devastated when I sent my beloved Pierre to cross the Rainbow Bridge 38 days ago because of cancer.

As strange as it sounds, I grieved his loss more than some people I've known...

So I have my Malinois due to the previous owner having stage 4 pulmonary fibrosis. The doctor told him that if he wanted to extend his life, that he needed to give her up. The allergens and dander issue. So my wife and I were known to truly care for our dogs. So we met up to see if she would be a good fit. Obviously we were. I remember the day he brought her over for good. Steve sat in the backyard with her and cried. It was heartbreaking. But I told him she would be loved and well cared for.
So I am here in the states for my surgery so I decided to text some recent pictures and videos of Bindi to his wife. She loved her and stated she needed cheering up. She told me Steve passed away on Thursday. We stayed in touch ever since we adopted her. They would periodically visit, and Bindi would jump up and hug Steve. So sad thoughts.
Sorry for long post. Took that to explain the story.

Sir, you and your wife are to be truly commended for taking Bindi into your home.

I'm sure your late friend found great relief and comfort that his furry one would be well cared for.

Your post was very succinct, compared to what I just posted about Pierre.

May you and your wife reap all the blessings you surely deserve...
